Hi bud, have you consider trying out Gillette guard with razorock shave gel? It really is my favorite combination for both a fast shave with very little to no irritation. Because my hair is so thick and I have no hair loss, quite the opposite, I found that using a Mach 3 or other cartridge Raiders just was not working for me. But with DE shaving, as with the Gillette guard, that problem has been eliminated. It takes many fewer passes now with the Gillette guard and razorock shave gel, only about 8 to 10 minutes total, and I'm on my way. I bought mine from the Italian barber. I really could not be more pleased, and the price is right. The razorock gel lasts me a long time, and even the Gillette guard blades seem to last me through 5 or 6 shaves. Even better, though I have to order the Gillette guard and blades online, the cost is a fraction of the price I was paying for Mach 3 cartridges which seemed to get dull after just one use on my full head of hair. If you try this out, let me know how it works for you.
I have found that since I got a Panasonic wet dry 4 blade linear, ES43 something, that using that with Edge gel plus going over it first with Gillette Mach 3 gets my head as smooth as the palm of my hand. The Panasonic alone gets nearly blade close. It was more than 12 hours before I fely ANY regrowth at all. It was like I could not even regrow it was so smooth. This gives me the smoothest head for the longest time of anything I ever tried.
It's actually not that bad....and the blades are dirt cheap (a 10-pack of Wilkinson's cost $1.76 at Walmart). When I store the blade in baby oil, I can get as many as 10-12 shaves off of one blade!
For one thing, there is a blade on both sides.....(hence the name double-edge). If one side gets clogged up, you can simply flip the razor over and shave with the other side. (of course, you can take the cover off and rinse the hair off of the blade and the razor). The cover more often than not prevents you from cutting yourself (mostly). The big key is applying your HeadSlick with some Shave Secret with a shaving brush (even if you lather one side at a time instead of lathering your whole head all at once). The brush spreads your lather evenly making the razor glide cleanly with fewer passes (Most of the old school barbers use a shaving brush when applying lather for shaving, and their shaves tend to be smoother than barbers who apply lather with their hands).
