Shaving issue
« on: April 27, 2013, 07:36:01 AM »
Hi all!

So have been shaving my head now for a week. I use the Headblade Sport with 3 blades. Top of my head get baby butt smooth as well as the sides but when it comes to the back of my head doesn't get smooth like the rest. Leaves little tiny tiny hairs. Aka not smooth.

Anyone have any tips?

Thanks!

1. Purchase some shave secret from Wal Mart to mix with your gel/cream/soap (4-6 drops per shave)

2. Invest in a shaving brush when you get used to shaving

3. The hair on the back of the head tends to be the strongest for most people who shave their heads. You may have to go against the grain a second or even third time to get baby butt smooth....and for most people, even when it's smooth the shadow will be there.

I'm sure more suggestions will come from the others if/when they see your thread. Good luck!

Yeah that's not uncommon. Try this, instead of going front to back on the sides go up to down/down to up. Front to back/back to front passes never worked for me on the sides.

Yeah that happens to everyone at so e point!

It becomes kind of a trade off between comet key smooth or slightly irritated for me.

I go from front to back all over. Then from the back of the neck up to my crown, from above my ears to the crown on both sides and then a touch up!

Hope that helps?

I'd recommend going against the grain on the back of your head, otherwise you'll be doing multiple passes with the grain, not getting that smooth feeling, and irritating your scalp.

However, I'm not sure how effective the Headblade is against the grain (I use a traditional razor) and it took me months before I was comfortable with shaving against the grain on the back of my head.

And because your Headblade is a Sport model, that means its a pushing, not pulling motion? For that reason it might be easier to go against the grain on the back of your head, I'm not sure. Would love to hear some feedback from those who use the Sport against the grain.
