hey wolf, how did you quit?

Patches, toothpicks, willpower.  Basically I got tired of feeling old, decided to try to get back in shape.

Thanks for the grats, I still want one, even though I'm pass the nicotine.  But the price is keeping me smoke free.   :D

My wife said to tell you to quit like she did, cold turkey with a lot of bitchiness  :-\

Not cigarettes....every now and then I will bum one if I'm havin' a few drinks.

Keep a quality pipe with some rich aromatic tobacco on the mantel at home for a very occasional treat.  And do enjoy a good cigar even fewer and farther between when someone whips'm out.  But don't keep them on hand and rarely buy them.

Yes, I do. However, I am on day 2 with Chantix, which means I will (hopefully) be quitting in 5 days. I'm ready to say "sayonara" to this habit, after about 20 years. @c3

Thought I would share this story if any of you are trying to quit. A friend of mine decided some years back that he wanted to give up cigarettes. He tried and tried but never could stop sucessfully. Finally he told himself he knew he could go at least one hour with out smoking. He would tell you himself that he has never "quit" but over 30 years have come and gone and he is still going "the next hour" without one.  O0

Have never smoked...... just not my thing. I grew up in a home where both my parents smoked. My brother and I hated it.

At the age of 42, my Dad had a major heart attack on Easter Sunday. Doctor told him to get rid of the (3) pack a day habit immediately or die.

Mom and dad both quit cold turkey that day and haven't smoked since. That was 31 years ago.... and Dad is still with us.....just turned 73 last month.

I started smoking when I was a teen. Probably started @ around 14 years old.
Finally kicked the habit alomost 2 years ago.
Best thing ever. I used to have terrible sinus issues. Now they are all but gone.
This has been the first year where I got sick in fall (I get sick every fall and spring because I have alergies) and didnt have to go to the doctires to get rid of mu coughing. (Usually I cough and cough sometimes for weeks until I'd go tot the doctors. This year. i got over it myself in about 2 weeks. NICE!!
I still smoke a pipe every now and again. Not daily, but probably once a week I'll smoke a bowl of tobacco if I'm drinking beers.
Remember to never take my advice seriously (unless I'm being serious) and you'll do alright.
