Hello all im liam, and basically ill keep it simple. im 19 years old and my hair is getting ridiculasly thin at the front. its litterally see through when im sweating on a night out and nearly blows away in the wind...
ive been wanting to shave my head for a while now and im just scared about doing it, im not a huge fan of being laughed at and also i dont think my girlfriend will like it! which would then lead to her not being attracted to me anymore. (un-intentionally)
PLEASE HELP ME haha.
FYI im planning on shaving it on sunday (2 days time)
Many thanks and much appreciated!

welcome to the brotherhood....I would say with some level of confidence, that almost all the brothers and sisters on here, were a little apprehensive at first...I was!! but the relief I felt after was 100 times (mental note..don't exaggerate) 10 times better than the worry I felt before...all of a sudden...it's done...you're shaved and telling everyone "I'm in control of how I look" I didn't tell my gf, she wasn't sure for a few minutes...then didn't care...she told me how much she likes vin diesel and jason stratham lol....why not buzz it with clippers, no.2 or 3...see what you think...then if you like it, try the full shave....
yes...you get some comments...but I've not had anything bad. I say go for it, and release yourself from all the worry of thinning hair

Sounds like you are ready for it. Post a pix.
Nothing to worry about. Bald is beautiful. It will look good. Put on a smile with the shaved head and it looks even better. Walk with confidence.

Hi, Liam! Welcome to this great site.
Although I was not as young as you when it first crossed my mind to shave my head, I was still a little anxious about the whole thing. I had thinning hair (but not badly) so I kept it fairly short most of the time. It was summer, I went to the barber for my regular haircut - got it & then the barber suggested I go shorter - I ended up having my head shaved. The reactions I got on the whole were all positive if not a little surprised. My wife wasn't too sure about my shaved head to begin with but couldn't resist feeling it & giving it a rub.
Have you gone for the full head shave or just had a short buzz?
If not, my suggestion is get a really short buzz-cut to begin with & keep it that short for a short while & then just go for the full bald head shave. You will love it. Guaranteed.
All the best.

Liam, how did it go. It's been long enough to pass your deadline.

at your age i buzzed it very short. That and shaved are far more common and accepted these days. It is you.

I'm 18 and losing hair as well, already have a noticeable horseshoe pattern, so I know how you feel!
Seriously, just buzz it short to begin with. I got some comments from friends at first, and my family of course. But seriously, nobody cares about your hair. Nobody will comment on it after a few weeks. And it feels so great to get rid of it and not have to worry about it anymore.
Good luck!

I'm pretty sure you won't be laughed at even if you hear a few comments.
And there is no reason your GF no longer feels attracted to you. My wife did not like it at first shave, but was used to it the same evening. It is just a matter of hours to get used to the new visual effect.

Ya know; you have to make the decision for YOURSELF and not for your friends and family. I found that once I went sly (only 6 weeks or so ago) that - as with anything - there is a period of adjustment, both for yourself and for friends and family. But very soon people will start complementing you on the new look (and for those that don't like it....they will adapt also). Just remember hair does grow back so give it a shot; take the plunge...you won't regret it!
Post before and after pics and welcome to the family
