Total Futility
« on: June 15, 2007, 08:24:50 AM »
Well, the Cav's lost in the NBA Finals last night. Swept. No real surprise there. The Spur's would have done it to any Eastern Team.

The last time any Cleveland team won the National title was the Browns back in 1964 when they beat the Baltimore Colts 27-0. And I remember listening to the game because I haven't had much to listen to since.

Since 1964 Cleveland Pro Teams have gone (if my math is correct) 126 years without winning a title. One Hundred Twenty Six years. That includes the Indians (last won the world series in 1948, but played in and lost the '95 and '97 series), the Browns (minus five years when they were stolen away by Baltimore), the Cav's since their founding in 1970, and the NHL Baron's for two  years in Cleveland.

We have names for our futility...

The Shot (Michael Jordan)
The Drive (John Elway)
The Fumble Ernest Byner against the Bronco's)
Red Right 88 (Just kick the field goal, don't pass!)
Jose Mesa (11th inning of 7th game of '97 World Series)
The Curse (trading Rocky Colavito '59 Indians)

126 years without winning a national title. So close so many times.

That's frustrating when you have some decent title contending teams
In a bacon and eggs breakfast, the chicken is involved, but the pig is committed. BE THE PIG!!!

I guess you can sympathize with the Cubs fans.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

Good points, but since you got LeBron James...didn't they make it too the finals faster than the Bulls did with Michael Jordan?

Point is, they'll be back...like a Rubik's cube, at first it kicks your ass(sort of like getting swept)...but once you got it figured out, you're there!  They'll figure it out!
