Hey all well I'm finally ditching denial and coming to terms with my balding I'm currently 28 and I'm a Norwood 2 with barely any hair loss on the crown but most of it is thinning in the front and on top of that I've always had fine hair. I joined here to see what I can get for opinions from guys in the same boat as me. Right now I mostly wear hats and have no intentions of shaving my head as I have before but my jaw and cheek bones give my head that "pear shaped look", currently I'm thinking of a transplant if anyone has any insight on things it would be appreciated thank you

Being a Norwood 2 makes you a good candidate for hair transplant at least in the eyes of doctors who will completely sell you on the idea of a transplant... at this stage your hair loss is not that aggressive and it means less work for the doctor and a good source of income... so theyr gona love you....
But remember this... hair loss is progressive... hair transplant will salvage your receding hair at the front but if you start loosing you hair in the crown area and back of the head after the transplant then your just gona have to go back for more surgeries.... sure they will give you medication to prevent this from happening but their will always be side effects.
And there will always be a fear in the back of your head... will my hair fall again... then their are the scars that you will receive from the transplant... which is a major put off for most people considering hair transplants.... no matter what the doctors tell you their will be some form of scaring... even if its very little....
Now it might seem to you from what I have written that I am against hair transplant but thats not true... I am just making you aware of the consequences... When I joined this site I was considering a body hair transplant but then I weighed the pros and cons... and their were nearly not enough pros to make me go through with it....
I am not gona sit here and tell you to shave your head and clearly thats not what you want to do either.... If you truly believe that you can save your hair loss then do everything in your power to do so because that is what makes you happy... the same way people over here shave their heads because it makes them happy...
If you feel hair transplant is the option for you then do your research and I m sure you will find a great doctor out there who will give you what you want.... but like I said make sure you are aware of the consequences....

Welcome! Sahil pretty much covered everything in his post, and if you go the transplant route, I hope it ends up being what you want for yourself. But there is a risk with the transplant; we have several members here who have had HT's and wound up with scars and ultimately regretted having the HT. Also, the drugs (Minoxidil, Rogaine) can have a severe effect on one's "manhood". Whatever you decide, best of luck to you.

Thank you for the encouragement guys, I have been reading up on it for quite a while very intrigued by a lot of things I've read, as for the scars that's not a big deal for me I have all together 6 scars on my body one more wouldn't hurt lol plus I kinda keep my hair on the long side. I don't know if I should do it now or if I should wait till I lost more and for the time being just get a really good hair cut cause it is about shoulder length lol

Hairloss or not, the Sly look is a very good option these days. It's less expensive than a transplant. After applying the 30 day rule, if you don't like it, you could return to your previous plan, grow it back out and get a transplant, but as the others have pointed out, even the transplant is likely to be a temporary solution.
Shaving bald is a few minutes of pampering yourself each morning, then enjoying the smooth feel of your scalp for hours thereafter.

I've got to agree with mrzed on this.
Going sly shouldn't be ruled out as an option. Like he said, if you don't like it you can let your hair grow back out and then go for the transplant. If, however, you go for the transplant first and don't like it, you're kind of screwed because there's no such thing as a money back guarantee on surgery. And most insurance providers won't cover cosmetic surgery.

I quite frankly wouldn't mind going sly to save the money but like I said my head is shaped too oddly like a pear kinda don't want that ridicule lol, but we'll wait and see what happens after an actual consolation happens

Welcome mate,
Why not try going bald first before the massive cost/risk of surgery? Who knows you might actually like it

Sorry to be blunt, but here it goes.
Have you ever shaved your head? My guess is no. So before you claim your head shape is all weird you should shave your head to see what the shape of your head really is.
Also, why would you want to spend THOUSANDS of dollars on a hair transplant without trying out the near FREE option of shaving your head?
If you're like 99.99999999% of the people that have come to SBG, then you're not really concerned with your hair. You're concerned with that you think your hair brings you - confidence, attractiveness, etc. All that most of us have without hair...many of us have and have found even more of since shaving.
I'm not saying that head shaving is 100% the option for everyone, but it seems to be the option for about 99% of people that come here. Why not try that option first for 30 days? My guess is that you'll forget about the transplant and use your THOUSANDS of dollars to go on a nice little vacation.

I had extensive transplant work done and it brought me nothing but very thin hair, fine hair on top and missing spots of hair on the sides/back with scars. I never tried the shave first or even a buzz. Now today i love being bald. I did do something to conceal the scars recently however. Please PM me and I will explain and please DO NOT pay for any type of transplant. I spent thousands needlessly. Not to mention today everyone happily shaves their head and I do too.
