Introduction from a newly bald guy.
« on: March 29, 2013, 03:32:35 AM »
Hello everyone,

My name is Harry and I am a 22 year old from Surrey, England.

From 10 to around 14 I always had my hair buzzed to a number 3.

I noticed at around 15 that my hairline had begun to retreat and this have me some confidence issues. As a result of this had some fairly long hair cuts down to fairly short cuts from around 20 onwards, but never bald.

A couple of days ago I decided to buzz my hair with my clippers using no guard. This was a spur of the moment thing but I liked the look. A day later and I had the bug to razor shave my head for the first time, so here I am, bald.

I am not here to look for confidence as I am quite comfortable with my not so perfect hairline. I am here however just to talk with like minded individuals as I know no one with a shaved head.

I will get a picture or up soon when I have access to a decent camera.

Before I end this post I do have one (possibly stupid) question. What is being sly bald, in contrast to just bald? I read a post earlier where a bloke said he was in line with a load of bald guys, then someone asked if they were sly bald or not. This confused me.

Thanks all, I look forward to taking to you all.

Harry

P. S. Apologies for any spelling issues, I am on my phone.

Good job on shaving your head. Welcome to the world of bald men.

Most of the guys on this site really enjoy being bald. Look for those with more than a few posts.

Please make yourself at home here at Sly Bald Guys and post frequently.

I think that Sir Harry's comment about Sly Bald means, "Did they completely shave their head?"  i.e. some guys are bald in the center, but keep their other hair. While a Sly Bald guy shaves everything above the neck/ears (may keep the beard), but no hair on top.  Whatever might still be there by nature, shave it off.

Mr. Z.

Welcome, Harry! I think Mr. Z. summed it up on the difference between sly bald and just plain bald. That said, nice story and introduction, feel free to participate and post often!

Thank you for all the replies, and I now understand sly vs not sly bald.   :)

As promised here are some photos... (Please excuse the mess, the birth of my daughter in February has made things manic.)

I went a bit crazy with the razor this morning and so my head is looking a bit worse for wear then the last 2 days. I was trying to get rid of as much as the shadow as possible but I failed miserably haha.

Will aim to hone my head shaving skills in the next few weeks. I have to pop out to a party in the next 10 or so minutes and I am sitting here with tissue on my head!

Looking great there mate. You really carry off the sly look well. The beard and bald head combo really suits you.
