« on: March 25, 2013, 01:44:03 PM »
Hey guys, I just saw that Amazon.com has a fairly large section of DE razors.  I thought I'd let you guys know in case you didn't know that Amazon.com carries such razors.  Here's a link --> DE Razors on Amazon.com <--

I get my DE blades on Amazon. The handles I have I acquired on eBay for nearly half retail price.

All three are working for me.

The supplied links are not working for me either, but the good news is they are easy to find on Amazon searching for DE razors.

Some of the DEs will be great, some not so good.  If you're unsure then please ask around here 👍

To those curious about DE shaving, I'd highly recommend giving it a go. Snag a razor on eBay then get a sampler pack of blades on Amazon.
I recommend getting an adjustable razor, as that will give you a more versatile shave experience.

The links do not work for me either .  Try http://www.amazon.com/Double-Edge-Safety-Razors/lm/R3QN1ZGDLLQ3RX

I used cartridge razors for more than 30 years until last year when I returned to double edged safety razors.  I have bought 7, and use them all in rotation.  The latest is a gold plated Merkur Futur that can be adjusted to give a very aggressive shave if desired.

Each razor is different and I enjoy all of them, however I probably like the 'slant" razors the best.

Last week I tried using my Gillette Mach3 Turbo again.  What a horrible experience.  It felt rough and certainly did not give me a smooth shave.

If you are thinking that DE shaving will save you money, give your head a shake.  Sure you can buy great blades for less than 10 cents ( I like Astra SP's that I buy for around $8 for 100),  but you will want to try different handles and they can range from $15 to over $100.  Of course once you realize what a pleasure shaving with a DE razor is, you will want to try "wet shaving" that will require at least 1 good brush ( I now own 37, half of which I use in my normal rotation, the others are awaiting restoration). With your brush you will want to try a couple of soaps ( I have 12 that I use in a daily rotation, with another dozen ready to use )

I can hardly afford to save any more money.

You definitely have BAD there buddy! I managed to avoid that one, I only have maybe 5 or 6.

You're right though, the pleasure of shaving this way makes us want to try different razors, blades, soaps etc.

the best source for DE razors is flea markets! hunting for vintage razors and restoring them is a blast.
