Looking for advice on the best routine here guys.
Previously I've shaved my head 1-2 times a week, but I want to begin doing it every day to keep it super short. However, the problem I've got is that a) I have good coverage, b) my hair is very thick and c) my hair is quite wiry. I like to shave against the grain but to do this every day is painful for the reasons above. It's like dragging my razor over sandpaper and I end up with cuts and friction burn.
My routine at the moment is very basic - simply shaving foam and Mach3. Anyone have any suggestions on a good routine?
Sounds like you need to spend more time setting up, maybe a good hot-hot headwash followed by about two minutes of hot brush soaping might make things go easier.
Also you could try pretreating with a shaving oil before lathering up then first pass WTG then 2nd pass ATG.
There are many others with conditions similar to yours and just as many solutions, you just need to experiment a bit to find a combination that works for you.
Welcome RG.
Lots of routines in the thread that Warhawk posted.
Good luck!
Good comment WARHAWK! Very interesting forum link!
I recommend a 3 pass shave (with, across, against).
For starters ditch the canned gel and get a shave soap and brush. Start with a low priced badger brush and a shave soap.
Next I'd invest in Headblade ATX and the 6 blade cartridges. It's easier to use and is a better value than the Mach 3.
Also get a preshave oil.
Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll check that thread out.
