Learning to love men who shave their heads
« on: June 13, 2007, 02:50:53 PM »
Ok, if any of you are ready to get fired up, here's an article for you!

http://www.mercurynews.com/malecall/ci_6119928?nclick_check=1

A reader of the San Jose Mercury News wrote in to a column called Male Call to ask why men shave their heads.  Let's just say, she's not a big fan of it.  Gotta love the columnists response!

People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

Yea...a while ago I thought I caught some ladies in the breakroom spoutin' off in spanish something like "Look at all the pelonito's around here"...but with all the other words in spanish...

funny at times I think there are WAY too many bald dudes in this building...in our department (design)  at times it could look like a prerequist for the job! ;)

I can see, there will always be haters...but I love that! O0

Certainly a display of irrational dislike of a whole class of people she has never met.   That woman must have been frightened by Uncle Fester as a child.   :/O

What can you say? :/O

I understand that everyone has their own view of what they like, not everyone agrees with everyone on who's attractive or what have you...but to say some dumb sh*t like that? Probably some ugly fat chick that wears tight shirts and short skirts and thinks they look good enough to judge someone else's appearance :Xo!

My thoughts, exactly.  Probably someone who is no oil painting herself.  I am really not offended by what idiots like this think -- who cares?  But what did strike me was the old double standard.  You can imagine the outcry there would be if a man wrote a letter like that about women who are overweight or have small breasts or something like that.  He'd be treated like Public Enemy #1; yet women can make disparaging comments about men's appearances and somehow get away with it.

And let's hope that never happens!!

The story behind the story is that she probably got rebuffed by a bald dude because she's A. Fat 2. Ugly III. a sordid combination of both, and now has a thing against sly dudes.  So, in my humble opinion, she can go blow a goat!

And that's all I'm going to say about that...

Male Call: Learning to love men who shave their heads
Male Call
San Jose Mercury News
Article Launched:06/12/2007 01:34:34 AM PDT

Q I hope you can devote some space to how horrifying it is when men shave their heads. Those big colorless heads are so bad to look at that I can hardly stand it. Some of them even have 5 o'clock shadows. I sincerely hope that you can persuade some of them to forget this fad -- if they're bald, they're bald. Nothing looks as bad as those shaved heads. Please don't use my name, because I don't want hate male from big, ugly bald-headed guys.
A We'd like to devote some space to how horrifying it is when women judge men on their looks. Those painful, cutting opinions are so bad to hear that we can hardly stand it. Some of them even ... aw, just kidding. We don't mind when you judge people by their looks - we do it all the time!
But let's explore this phobia of yours anyway. It's what we do. So, you're OK with natural baldies, but guys who purposely shear off whatever wisps remain after years of dutifully pumping out prodigious amounts of testosterone (because, as you know, it's well-documented that bald guys have an excess amount of that particular love juice), it's those guys you reject as somehow deficient?

Yeah, well, then how do you feel about this guy? He's obviously shaved his head, and then even let it grow back into a 5 o'clock shadow. Double bad, according to you. But don't say it too loudly, or he's likely to treat you to a super-sized portion of bad ass.

(OK, yeah, sure, we do find him kind of attractive, in a "if he were a woman without the shaved head and without the extensive martial arts knowledge" sort of way. We happen to be comfortable with that part of our sexuality.)

Guys shave their heads for a variety of reasons, most having to do with a sentiment expressed sometime in their furry period that went like this: "If I ever get a toupee or hair plugs, please take me out and shoot me." Knowing their friends' tendency toward literal meanings, they shave.

Some heads, admittedly, are more shaveable than others. A bumpy, furrowed, larval-like dome can take some getting used to. But is it any worse than the Friar Tuck look?

We'll take that as a no.

So, dear anonymous, chromophobic, Telly Savalas-hater, here's our suggestion to you: Meditate a little longer before you disenfranchise an entire class of follicle-deficient, Turtle-Waxed men based on appearances alone. And you can quote us on that.

But please don't use our name because we don't want hate mail from big, ugly bald-headed whatevers.

thanx rob!

not surprising .... its a fact that some women don't like guys with shaved heads....its also a fact that some men don't like skinny, fat, blonde or brunette women. we can't please everyone though so i'll keep finding  the ones that like it  O0

Man, that chick has some issues that go beyond bald dudes.  Good feedback from the columnist though.  I have to agree with baldrob...she probably got dumped after a one night stand when a sly guy got too drunk and took her home by mistake.  He probably thought his dog had got loose again.
