Although I am not brand new here and don't post a ton, just wanted to introduce myself properly. I am Marshall and I am from Seattle. I have been shaving my head off and on since 1997 but over 2 years continously now. I am the founder of the Yahoo! Group called, "Christian Chromedomes" . Again I want to thank Tyler for joing and promoting my group. And you are all welcome to join, whether or not you are Christian. Anyway, since the religion part of this site is closed down, if you are interested in a family friendly place where you can talk about Christian stuff, come on over to my site at: groups.yahoo.com/group/christianchromedomes . Anyway, I started the site because I was a member of another site where the conversation kind of veered past where I was comfortable. So I figured that there may be other men who are bald and Christian that might appreciate another bald site where they can share about their faith too.
As for why I shaved my head.....I have a ever increasing forehead and a thinning top and crown. When my stepmom started saying that I might want to looking into a rug if I lose more, I went, "YUCK!". So in 1997 I attended a Seattle Mariners event called Jay Buhner Buzz Cut Night, got a headshave and a free baseball game. I ended up liking the look, so I have kept it most of the time, with short periods of growing it back. This will probably be my main look from now on!

Welcome Marsh,
You're a smart man to have ignored your mother in law. The look suits you.
Buhner night! That's the coolest first shaving story I've read yet. I liked watching him play. But he used to kill my yanks.

Hey Marsh,
a warm welcome from me as well.
Seattle, hm? Must get cold up there quite often. Does the cold ever give you trouble (with your bald head)?
Or do you wear hats and caps during the cold months?

Well, as to winter and my bald head.....I tend to wear caps or hats. Even though Seattle is close to Canada, it isn't that cold in terms of snow. It does rain a lot. But not nearly as much snow as we had when I was a child. But the temperature is modified from the proximity to the Pacific Ocean, which I think is warmer than the Atlantic. But I am also a avid skiier. The slopes are only 50 mi from here. But I can't say that I am colder even when doing that. My stocking cap keeps me pretty warm. But I do have a greying full beard going on know along with the bald head.

Marsh, if you're an avid skiier then you must have been to Whistler at least once (British Columbia). It's great
for skiing and snowboarding.
As for the weather in Seattle: I'm considering going on a trip to Vancouver at some point in the future and I assume Vancouver and Seattle must have similar weather.

Whistler is great. I haven't been there for awhile! But I love the skiing there. Yes, Vancouver and Seattle pretty much have the same climate. Back in the early 80's I used to live about 20 miles from the US/Canada border. Vancouver is a place I am very familiar with. While you are there HappyHarry, take note how may chromedomes are there!

Hiya Marsh, Very nice beard. I was posting this morning and wrote about an amazing 92 yoa woman from Seattle I met in Nicaragua during the 80s, Hazel Wolf. She passed in 2000 at 102 years old. Did your trails ever cross? Cheers, Kenito

Nope, my trails never crossed with this woman! But as of this writing, my stepmother will be 94 years old in December. She still does not like my shaved head. But last year, when I had surgery, she saw my head with the hair grown out. She then was able to see that I have since lost a lot of hair. So she understands why I shave it now. But I am praying that she will live to at least be 100!
