Growing out...

My mom asked me to grow my hair out a bit for the family reunion at the end of march. I've got some fuzz and it's miserable.
My boyfriend is encouraging me to go back to sly and eff the consequences. I'm inclined to follow his lead, especially since I have a wig if my slyness is really such a huge deal.
Only been a couple of days but I miss my smooth head.
Thoughts?

Go with what you, that is you personally, feel is correct.
I'd have to say, that I feel your option of the wig is a pretty reasonable compromise.

Sounds like your mom is uncomfortable with your look and thinks it will either raise questions or reflect badly on her. In three weeks, you're not going to have much hair, so the questions will be asked anyway. My advice is to discuss it with your mom, explain the reality that a quarter inch of fuzz will fool no one and then go back to being sly.

Agree totally with npsbg.
Did she elaborate on "a little"? I'm thinking Mohawk.

I've marched to the beat of a different drummer my whole life. That's what makes me, me.
Want to borrow my drum?

Keep it sly. My guess, and it's only a guess, is that your mom is the only one who'll make an issue out of it. If she persists, compromise and go with the wig.

The other guys have made the same points I would, it is her that believes the family will take issue, not possibly able to know whether they will or not, rather feel comfortable and be you, that way, if anyone does take issue, you can deal with it on your terms

Camel's nose.
It's best to not let the camel near the tent.

I also agree totally with npsbg. Do what you want to do! A wig is a great compromise if you want to wear it but its your choice and if your family love you the will respect you decision! Hope you get a happy resolution to this issue! :-)

Moms will be moms....I'm sure she loves you, but she has to respect your choice as an adult. If you wear the wig, I don't see any problems...It's just a matter of concern vs. control but I don't know where this falls. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Based on the fact that I'm in the middle of a move, I've chosen not to hit the reunion. I see the family members I like plenty.
I sent mom some pics last night and this morning she seems like she is gradually coming along.
I meanwhile, will be in the bathrooom with my razor
