King of Shaves shaving gel - anyone tried it?
« on: March 06, 2013, 12:48:08 PM »
As per post title, has anyone tried products from this brand? I bought a tube of their basic shaving gel at my local supermarket a couple of weeks ago, pretty much on a whim, and so far I am VERY impressed. It makes hardly any foam and is almost transparent making it really easy to spot unshaven areas (also coming in handy for face shaving now that I'm growing some beard), delivers a very smooth glide even with the cheap two-blade razors I'm using now, and doesn't gum up the blades at all.
I'm not sure how widely available this brand is (I'd never even seen it around before) but for all UK-based forum users I'd definitely recommend giving it a try, seeing as it isn't that expensive either. Also if anyone's been using it long-term I'd love to hear their feedback.

I use the blue and green AlphaGel.  It is available in the United States.  I highly recommend the orange (Black Pepper) gel, as it has the best fragrance of all the KoS products I have tried.  I like the low foam, as I use a wet or dry Panasonic electric, and that works well for that method.

It is only available in the UK and possibly Europe.

Thanks for the reply SimplyRed. Will definitely try to get hold of the orange gel once I get through this one seeing as black pepper is one of my favourite smells in the world :)

Since you are in the UK, get yourself some of the Molton Brown Black Pepper shower gel.  It's readily available in the US, too.  I've been using it for years.
