New look for an old guy
« on: February 27, 2013, 11:33:03 AM »
Hi everyone, my name is James and I've just shaved my dome.
I'm a senior (76) living on Vancouver Island and for the past 20 or so years have sported a ponytail, on several occasions it's even been suggested I looked like 'George Carlin', rest his sole.
Anyhow long story-short, figured it was time for a change and so far it's all been positive.
I think I'm going to enjoy this forum.

Hi James

Welcome to this great forum... The new look really suits you and so does the goatee.

Great look, really suits you - from one older guy to another (I'm 71).  Goatee only adds to the great effect.
I hate to say it but I have always thought a pony tail on an older man is not a good look.

That could be true, but as an artist I found out very early that looking the part allowed me to more then double the asking price of my pieces.

Here is a comparison of the before and after.
One thing is for sure, the after is a lot easier to manage.

Several people have told me the very same thing.
I think it is the fact that all the grey is gone, which then begs the question "what would a little touch up of the goatee" do for the look?
mmm!

James,

Welcome from not too far away here in Seattle!  I will say that in your case, I actually thought the ponytail worked......knowing that you are a artist.  But I do think you did take off some years by shaving your head.  If you dye the goatee, I think you would take off even more.  You are fortunate, it looks like your eyebrows have stayed dark.  I am 52 and my eyebrows are graying so because of that I don't color my beard anymore!  But enough about me!  Welcome to this group and enjoy yourself!
