I'm the new guy
« on: February 21, 2013, 05:52:07 PM »
Well I have a head full of jet black hair, but was not to graced being a half breed that my hair was straight in some places and very curly in others. I've buzzed my hair since about 15 because I hated the way my hair looked. Mexican mullet anyone?

So for about 15 years now I've been shaving my head with a razor once every other day. I have a very sensitive back of my neck and get a pimple or two every couple of months and it pisses me off. It's a blemish...yuck.

So I'm always looking for new ways to shave my head with less irritation. I've done bump stopper, witch hazel and sea breeze.

I've tried all ways to shave possible. The best results for me is headblade. I've recently have purchased the steel eclipse. I haven't gotten it yet, but since it's so expensive I got buyers remorse as soon as I hit order.

Before that I've been using the atx. The ATX is good, but doesn't have that one wheel stoke like the sport did. I had to tilt it up off its wheels to get a clean shave and that took longer. Plus it wouldn't get the patch in the crease behind my head like the sport did. I'd have to stretch the skin to get it with the atx, which leads to irritation.

Anyways, I've been shaving my head for a long time and have actually been reading these forums for a few years. So I'll be asking questions and giving advice on my particular experiences.

Like my first question....$75 headblade eclipse???? Is it really worth it or did I just overpay for the same results :-[?

G'Day Stevie mate  O0

Welcome to the Bastion Of Baldness.

I love my ATX, gives me the smooth as a baby bums feel.

Let us know how you go with the eclipse.

Ah, but have you tried shaving with a safety razor?  Many people that are prone to breakouts and razor burn and have tried the safety razor now swear by the double edge.  Come join us on the dark side of the blade in the Safety Razor subforum for more info...  >:D

Welcome to the forum!
Steve, since the pimple issue is a recurring one, perhaps there's something else going on. Maybe try using two kind of products and switching between them from month to month.

Review on the eclipse guys.

I'm sorry it took so long but I wanted to use it for a while to make a accurate review and just not a knee jerk one.

Price: It's expensive...$90

How it works and how it's different than the sport: It works the same as a sport, but you don't have to judge how much pressure you put on it. Just glide it. The weight of the eclipse is perfect pressure. It also seems like you can use this to shave everyday, instead of every other day like I used to with the plastic sport. The sport would irritate me if I did it everyday.

The actual altra blade with the eclipse has lasted longer than it did with the sport. I don't know why, but it has.

Is it worth $90? I'd say $50 to $60 is a good deal, but it looks as if it will last forever though, so maybe it is.

Good review, now that I'm just getting used to the HeadBlade ATX  and liking it, the eclipse sounds like a good gift idea.
I'll have to drop a hint to my wife, I've got a birthday coming up.
