Ive never shaved or buzzed my hair before#2 is 6 mm or about a quarter of an inch -- long enough so you won't look bald at all and so it won't take too long to grow out if you want to do that. #3 is 3/8 inch.

For example -- is it looking ok? do I have hat/pillow/helmet hair?
just give it a try - I am 26 now and started shaving because of MPB - I often had long curly hair but always like the short buzzcuts better and now the head shaving was a huge confidence boosteryou know that you can grow your hair back any time you want - so just give it a try - maybe you'll ned some days to get used to it - but if you already have the urge to do it just do it. I found out that the best decisions I've made have always been those where I trusted my instincts and didn't care about other peoples opinions or reactions - in the end it's really all about how you feel and when you are feeling good others will respect you for that I think a short buzz-cut will look good on you
Welcome, I think maybe a 2 would be good , You can always start out higher and go down to what you feel comfortable with.
I vote for the no guard buzz.

Cesar had a great idea to get it shaved at a St. Baldricks event. You will be able to find out what it is like to be bald and raise money for a great cause. You will most likely get so much support from your family and friends and be a hero all at the same time.
