Any Bald Gorillas out there?
« on: June 07, 2007, 01:25:43 PM »
Any of you occasionally light up a good cigar?  Been doing it for quite some time now and I can't think of a better way just to sit around and philosophize about the world.

I guess when I go sly I can now smoke and rub my gourd while chillin out.

By the way a gorilla is a BOTL ,"Brother or the Leaf" 8)

I am a non-smoker.  But where did the expression of "gorilla" come for those who smoke cigars?  I would have thought it would refer to those of us who have hirsute bodies?

Good question....the word came from some guys who felt they were being placed in the "jungle" due to them not being welcomed to smoke in public.

They came up with the word "FOG", Freakin Old Gorillas...and the word just stuck.

Its kind of like a bunch of gorillas getting together for a herf...someone just said I'm going to herf some cigars tonite and the word stuck.  Nowadays when someone announces they are going to have a "herf" it just means a couple of FOGs are going to get together and smoke a few cigars and just hang out.

Silly I know...

I love to smoke a good cigar once and a while.  My buddy owns Bargain Humidors (http://www.bargainhumidors.com) and always had a good supply of Cubans and other good cigars that we'd smoke.  Unfortunately, he recently moved to Texas, so I don't get to smoke with him very often.  His business partner just happens to be Sly!

Tyler, I live in Texas!  Where is his shop located?

I've smoked a lot of good premium cigars but I haven't gone down the slippery slope and had a good Cuban...yet!

I can't think of a better way to relax than sit back and smoke a good cigar among friends!

He lives in Dallas, but his shop is purely online.

Nothing like having a nice drink in your hand to go along with the cigar.
