My head is flakey / dry!!

My head is really dry...it's like bad dandruff and it's really bugging me. Like I can rub my head and it looks like tiny snowflakes. I do have fairly dry skin, and have it for a long time. I do put some lotion on my head at night, but it doesn't seem to be helping.
I also shave with a 0 guard, and I realize this is probably making it worse.
Do you guys use any sort of after shave or lotion that works? Bonus points if it makes my head less shiny!

I know what you mean.
I have very dry skin. I always have. What I do is a few times a day I will rub a damp wash cloth on my head. Then put some lotion on. Simple, but works for me.

Try washing your scalp with Noxzema or Sea Breeze...If you want your scalp less dry, try washing with Dove Body Wash...

I have to say Sea Breeze works wonders and has helped me out with break outs a lot more than any other product that I have tried

Headlube Matte is very nice stuff and I currently use it but imho it is not the best for keeping you moisturized during the winter. I sometimes find that my scalp will dry out a short time later and I have to reapply it to some spots. I still love the stuff and it helps keep down the shine.
But in all honesty I would use something like Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture. I also use this. It does a great job at moisturizing the scalp and it stays moisturized. I used to have dry skin problems on my scalp until I started using this stuff. It will not clog your pores and it comes in different varieties(no sunscreen, 15spf, 30spf, sensitive skin, etc.)

Use a good Dandruff shampoo like head and shoulders, that might be enough to solve the problem. If that's not enough try using Cortaid or Cortizone 10. That should clear up the dermatitis. Make sure you keep your skin properly moisturized.

No, no sunburn. I'll pick up a couple of products that you guys recommended and report back. Thanks!

OK, here's my 2 cents worth.
Don't use the same soap (especially if it is a deodorant soap) on your head and face that you use on your body.
Do get yourself a facial quality soap (Neutogena) or a liquid face wash. Treat your bald head the same way you would treat your face.
Don't use a toner/astringent with alcohol. There are plenty out there that are alcohol free. My personal favorite is Thayers Alcohol Free, Unscented Witch Hazel with Aloe.
Do exfoliate. Sloughing off dead skin cells will give you a clean fresh look while stimulating new skin cell growth.
Finish up with an oil-free moisturiser. There are plenty of OTC ones that won't break the bank.

ALso if you are in a winter climate try to get humidity in your home with a humidifier. That helps with dry skin in cold climates.

I just saw this product in a local store called Cetaphil Dermacontrol Moisturizer SPF 30. Cetaphil is a great company and the claims of it giving a matte finish is interesting to me too. I have not tried this yet but I will soon. Maybe you might want to look into it too. Here is a small excerpt from the package-
"Lightweight formula absorbs quickly and provides a matte finish. Hydrate, protect and control shine with this lightweight 3-in-l moisturizer. Clinically proven to manage oily, acne-prone skin while providing broad spectrum protection from the sun's harmful rays, this gentle formula absorbs quickly and provides a long-lasting matte finish."
