I have a Merkur Futur that I use on my face and my head. I Have only used Astra and Feather blades and both are fairly inexpensive. I prefer the Feather blades so far. I recommend purchasing a sampler pack of blades and determining which brand you prefer.

I normally use a HeadBlade Sport for the dome because it is quick.  On weekends I use a DE, normally with Astra blades.  My favourite DE for my head is a Merkur 37C (Slant);  it is not overly aggressive and I can always get a BBS, nick-free shave however it does take longer than the HB.
