I actually think your hair would benefit from being cut shorter at the sides, which may leave the top looking thicker. To be honest I can't see any reason for you to shave your head. Still looks like plenty of hair there to me.

Make the most of your hair whilst you have it, as if you are going to end up with MPB then you won't have the choice!

You would look awesome bald. And don't worry about it, everyone has bumps. No one notices, though.

On the other hand, your hair still looks good, and you can keep on with that until you feel it's time to beat mother nature to the punch. At this point, whatever you decide will be good.

Crusher is right.  But even if he is not, put on a hat for a week.  But you'll like the shaved head.

It's very rare that a guy has a bad head shape for sly.

I'm sure no one really knows for sure because everyone is different, but does anyone have an idea when it will start to get bad? Like I said I started receding around 18 (I'm about to be 25) and I still have a lot of hair left, the back is thinning but it's not apparent enough that's its a bald spot yet. Does it slow down as you get older? I'm hoping I go bald slow like my father because he's in his late 50's now and still has a little bit left on top.

No everyone is different. Take each day as it comes and enjoy the hair whilst you have it. You'll have plenty of time to be bald later

I agree with the others who've said to enjoy your hair while you have it. Unless you're looking to shave your head just for the experience/thrill of doing it (something that I did well before I started to lose my hair just for the sheer badass-edness of it all), there's really no need to be thinking about it now.

The thing is that most guys start to lose at least some hair once they hit a certain age. I don't think anyone has the same hairline that they did when they were very young. Some lose so little or lose it so slowly over many decades that it never really impacts the way they look or feel about themselves. For others, the hair loss progresses much faster. I hit the "point of no return" (where I had lost so much hair that I looked better with it gone) a couple of years ago in my mid-40s. Others guys hit it in their 60s. Some guys hit it in their 20s. There's no telling at this stage which camp you'll fall into. My point is that it could be many years down the road or it might be never.

Yeah that's what was really puzzling me because I've read about so many guys at 18 when they started losing there hair were almost completely bald in a few years. My hair is defiantly thinning and you can tell my hair is receding if I pull my hair back but it seems to be happening at a very slow pace. I don't have as much hair on top as I did when I was 18 but there's still plenty left on top so far.  The same thing happened to my father and I'm pretty sure I got his hair genetics...  :XX

I will be the dissenter here ... even if you've got plenty of hair you may prefer to get rid of it.

To each his own. I'd have plenty of gray hair but choose not to.

Swolfe, I'm going to agree with isleepinthebuff again and say to keep your hair.

Unless your hair is much more noticeably thinner in person than it is in the photographs, AND if it is negatively impacting your life, then don't shave.

Shaving is a pain in the neck, especially when you still have a lot of hair. Then there's social stigma, explaining a shaved head to friends, family etc, etc. There's a lot involved with shaving your head going beyond the simple act of head shaving.

And like buff said, you've got your whole life to be bald and then embrace the freedom of head shaving should your hair fall out to a certain degree that it is the best choice to make.

If you're in your mid-twenties and your hair is still looking good, keep it and and enjoy it, and appreciate it!

Possibly. It's hard to know at this stage of the game, because whatever sort of hair genetics you have, it's really only just started. If you need to pull your hair back to notice the recession and/or the thinning is only noticeable under certain conditions or generally only to you? It's too early to shave your head, at least as a response to hair loss. After all, in 10 years you might have the exact same head of hair that you have now.

The only reason I'd consider shaving if I were you is if you want to do it for the same reasons that you might want to, say, get a mohawk or some other extreme kind of haircut or dye it purple. But you definitely don't NEED to do it.

I was thinning slowly from the age of 23 and lost most hair around december during a time which was very stressfull. I think I'm having a norwood 3 now, although most people said I didn't have to shave I feel much better now about myself. What worried me the most was that I didn't know how I would look bald, the uncertainty was quite stressing and all the crazy thoughts I got from it.

But if feel good about yourself and don't worry everyday about your hairloss so much that it takes lots of precious time I would say keep the hair as long as you feel good about it. If you are worrying too much and cant think about anything else shave it or get a buzzcut
