NOOB from Southern California
« on: January 19, 2013, 09:01:43 AM »

Hello all,

Kind of found this site by accident. Was looking for information on the best electric shavers for my head. Googled it and this was the 1st placed I looked. Lots of great info.  Been shaving since August 17, 1996.  Been through the nicks, bumps, cuts and of course the deep gouges ! the ones that sting and won't stop bleeding.

I use Gillette Fusion blades (expensive I know) and once in a while will use a Braun Activator 8595. I bought one of those strips off of ebay you can sharpen your disposable blades. It actually works. However, they only last 2 or 3 shaves before I have to re-sharpen them and the Braun is getting worn out so that's why I was searching for something new.

Nice meeting you,

Darin

Welcome Darin! Do you do you use Pre shave lotions? That might help with the cuts.

I use the head blade and have never had a problem in a year.

Welcome to SBG.  I'd say that no electric can beat the smooth results of a razor shave.

When I was a teen my dad got me an electric razor. Never knew how nice a razor blade was until college. So many guys used blades. Gave it a try and never went back to electric.  When I started shaving my head a year ago, it was razor from the start.

G'day Darin, welcome to the sly family! I'm sure you'll find all sorts of useful information here mate. The only question that we always seem to struggle with is the electric razor one, seeing most of us use razors of all different brands and blades. Hopefully you've had some luck though!

Feel free to stick around and jump head on into the convo's, we don't bite... too hard  :*))

Welcome Darin ... I'm from Southern California (Thousand Oaks, Ventura, Westlake Village, Malibu) ... but that was years ago. Oh my, how it has changed!
