Makeup for men...

Last night I was listening to the BBC radio whilst drifting off to sleep. There was an interesting spot about South Korea. Apparently 20% of all men under 25 use foundation at least some of the time. They said they do this to make them feel better and perhaps give them an edge in the labour market.

Apparently there is quite a range of make-up products for men there now and they are advertised widely. All these young blokes have to do compulsory military service for a time and there is even a range of camouflage face paint that is better on the skin than the harsh army supplied camo paint.

Just imagine that the North has invaded the south and the platoon sarge is yelling:

"Get those weapons ready and that camo paint on - we're going after 'em."
One of the privates replies:
"But sarge, I can't use that camo paint -- you know I've got combination skin."

I used to work with a guy who used foundation to cover old acne scars. One day he got caught in the station restroom touching it up and from then on was known as "Bondo". Rightfully so!

I personally wouldn't wear make up 'lol' but each to their own!

Lol when using my ex Ms's moisturizer, I was all like "wow this stuff is great, look how good my skin is!".....

That's when she replied "yeah because it's actually moisturizer/foundation."

Needless to say I may have used it again :/

Only time I have, and will ever wear make up again, was when I wore corpse paint (which actually isn't paint at all...) for halloween. I used a combination of powder, eye shadow and lipstick. But I think I looked pretty brutal... Afterall, looking how I did, now one was going to question my wearing of make up!

But I would never wear it for every day use, or while not "in costume"

Sitting in the make up chair. Foundation, blush, lip tinge, eye liner, fake eyelashes, bald head sprayed with hair spray to cut down on the glare, just another day in television.

Also, in very cold climates-Seoul, South Korea would count-men wearing makeup, or some sort of foundation prevents chillblains to the face. I worked at a lab in Murmansk and, believe me, the climate was brutal. We routinely slathered our faces with a sort of colloid/cream when we knew we would have to work out of doors. Is that make up? Maybe, maybe not but it did keep the mobility in our jaws so we could speak.

Gentlemen, you may scoff at makeup for men but it's a booming section of the cosmetics industry and, it might surprize you, not a few wives have been asked to "touch up" bags under the eyes of their exhausted, aging husbands. I use a product that rolls on and tightens the skin below my eyes...but is that makeup or just good sense? Your call.

Well, Ive seen younger guys wearing "Manscara" and "Guyliner"!

I admit, I like a male grooming product! I moisturise, use  the undereye roll on stuff to tighten the skin, lip balm, uhm..I even..uhm..have a little brush and comb to keep my eyebrows in shape  before I leave for work!

I also have a concealer stick, that covers the occaisional zit.

Oh dear! appears that I left my bollocks at the door!

I wore eyeliner as part of a Halloween costume five years back. I dressed as Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. My wife assured me that it "will come right off".
Well after rubbing and rubbing with a wash cloth for about an hour.... it was still there AND my eyes were red and irritated from rubbing at them. It took the better part of three days for it to wear off.
Nobody at work said anything but I got a lot of double takes for a few days.

I have worn make-up, wigs, gowns, and what-all, including a horsehead, but guys, that's Mardi Gras.  Our traditions only have men of the all-male krewe in the tableau--a short skit, usually in mime and attempting to amuse the ladies in the call out section before the court is presented at a Carnival Ball.  So, yes I've taken part in those, many times sober enough to remember my part fully decked out.  But, not otherwise .  Just frankly don't need it, I have naturally straight teeth, beautiful eyes and lovely skin,    I'll have to dig out my picture done up as Marge Simpson!  That's classic, even if that big blue wig covered my great shiny dome.

Not a chance that I would wear makeup but I don't judge. I think living in Austin has desensitized me somewhat. Dudes in makeup is definitely one of the tamer things I've been exposed to in a city that celebrates being weird.

Not for me .  I have gotten used to alot of things in life.   But men wearing make up unless they are on TV.

I tried to use my wife's concealer once to hide a hickey on  my neck.  It didnt' work too well, because her skin is so much lighter than mine...lol
