Greetings Everyone

Hey,
My name is Steven. I'm 23 and I live in Albuquerque, NM (home to Walter White from Breaking Bad who partly helped changed my mind about going sly
). I found this site and have been lurking for a few months. I don't want to repeat too much of my story because its so similar to a lot of guys here. I have played the whole "looks fine at this angle" and "depends on the lighting" game for too long and I have decided to just go for it. I haven't done the deed just yet though. I recently buzzed it down to a 2/1 and it was a bit too drastic for me. I have let it grow long and I was going to shave it all off, but decided it would be safer to ease into it. I am going to start at a 3 and then go down gradually. I hope to share my experience when I decided to go all the way.
I know this is not the place, but I guess I might as well ask a question while I am at it. I have a few angiomas on the back of my head and I was wondering if anyone has dealt with those? The dermatologist did not think they would be a problem, but I am not sure I believe him.

Welcome mate,
Glad to hear your coming around to being bald. Trust me once you shave your head you won't look back!
Sorry I've got nothing re: the things on the back of your head.
Cheers

Hi Steven, welcome.
Ease into the Sly as you are most comfortable doing it.
I've got nothing to contribute regarding the angiomas, but I'm sure other guys will check in shortly with their thoughts.
Again, welcome.

Welcome to the family mate!
There are many ways to skin a cat (or a head), just kick back and enjoy the journey
There are definitely people that have dealt with them on here in the past, you've just struck out with the first 3 welcomes haha. Hopefully someone comes along soon to help you out!

you've got a good plan, but i'll say this. when you do shave your head, finally, you'll join the chorus of guys on here that ALL say, I should have done it sooner, or why did I wait so long.
It's great being bald, natural or by choice.

Welcome Steven,
I remember when I started buzzing my hair: used the clippers with not guard and it was short. Until the first re-buzz I let it grew in a #2 or maybe #3.
The point is that as much as I liked the no guard buzz, so much I disliked the #3.
So, if you have been playing with the idea, then go ahead and go all the way.
It's a great felling, enjoy it!

Welcome, Steven! There is nothing wrong with taking the slow road to sly if that is what you are more comfortable with. As far as the angiomas, if they are an issue that is bothering you that badly, it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion or to find another dermatologist. Good luck!

Welcome Steven. The transition might be a lot easier than you think. By the way, I am a big fan of breaking bad -- it was a factor in me shaving my head. Remember, Walt just did it. Actually, you could try doing what I did and watch the whole series in a few days. There are that many bald headed dudes in that show that it makes it seem abnormal to be "haired". It must be interesting to be living in the place where it was filmed. I am really hanging out for the final 8 episodes.
Now, for the angiomas. I looked them up on wikipedia and looked at tons of photos on google to see what they look like. Some types of them are raised and others are not and they are generally not dangerous. If yours are raised [like a cherry angioma] you would probably want to get them removed probably by having them frozen -- here we would just go to a General Practitioner -- a dermatologist would be overkill unless you can do that at no cost.
I advise that you do not start cooking meth to pay for their removal
-- if breaking bad is accurate you would meet such a bad bunch of people. Removing them would make it easier to shave. If they are not raised then it doesn't really matter unless you don't like the look in which case once again get them frozen and replace them with some lighter and tougher looking scars. It would look good and give you some street cred when you're having to deal with all those crazy meth dealers in Albuquerque.
On the other side of my head that you can't see in my pic I have two nevi on the side which are unsightly, raised about 2.5 mm and about 5 to 8 mm in diameter. My nevi are like unpigmented hairless moles and are difficult to shave around. Some nevi are angiomas. I visited my GP about a week ago and after checking to make sure that they weren't dangerous he simply froze them with nitrogen. Right now they have changed from living spongy material to a somewhat shrunken scabs which I reckon will fall off in a couple of weeks. I am really looking forward to this.
If your dermatologist reckons that they will be ok then almost certainly they will be from his safety point of view. If you don't want them there then get rid of them if they are a big enough problem for you.

Welcome to the forum. Going gradual will help you ease into having much shorter hair, but I guarantee once you get it down to a 1, you're going to want to shave it all off. Let us know how it goes.

Here's my 2 cents:
If it is a raised lesion and at risk of repeated trauma during shaving it would be prudent to have them removed.
If the lesion is flat and doesn't get in the way of shaving then your dermatologist is probably right.
The best thing for you to do right now is to get a second opinion from another dermatologist who can do a proper exam & discuss the matter with you.
Oh, and welcome

Keep us posted on what happened to the angiomas. My nevi didn't die so they'll have to be treated further:
