I'm seventeen and I'm not balding i also have very thick dark Brazilian hair. I just like the bald look. I recently shaved my head for the first time, i shaved with the grain and it wasn't smooth and grew back very quickly. I'm worried that my hair is too thick to shave against the grain without getting serious razor burn. Any tips on how i should shave against the grain with super thick hair
Well on day one or week one, ATG will likely cause razor burn.
Hang in there for 30 days. As you get used to shaving try ATG with a new razor. Don't press to hard. The first few times is not a race to see how smooth you can make it.
After a bit your likely get where you want.
Take your time.
Yes, as Mr Z wrote ... for the first week or so take it really easy and slow. It's not a competition against the clock.
After a few days your scalp will begin adjusting to the regular shaving and will become tougher. As you gain experience you will know how best to shave your head - certain spots will need more attention or shaving from a different direction. And the time required will reduce.
When you are not balding you will notice the return of stubble from hair growth - how much and how quickly varies with every person.
But the experience and appearance of a well-groomed bald head makes it all worthwhile.
Good luck. Post back as you have more thoughts, questions or anything to add to the conversation.
Welcome Ben,
you've received very good advices so far, it's not much I can add.
Shave with the grain for a while. You'll notice when your skin gets used to shaving and then try going against the grain.
