Headblade ATX vs. Sport

Hi. I'm considering a headblade, but I'm not sure which to get. I understand there's some disagreement as to which is better, multiple camps, as it were. So those who have used both, could you give me an assessment of which one is the better in closeness of the shave, ease of use, and any other factors you can think of?

I really like the sport, but waiting to win the ATX  so I can try that out .  Never have won a thing in my life so guess I like the sport if it works don't fix it ! But all their products are great, not just sayen that.

I rate the SPORT ( with the 3-blade cartridge)  a 9.9, and the ATX (with the 4-blade cartridge) a 5.6.

The SPORT with the 4-blade cartridge is a 6.6.

Sport all day long without a shadow of a doubt. ATX is poor IMO.

Well, I've used the Sport for over five years until recently. It's been good to me. Recently (about a week now) I decided to try out the ATX. The first shave was decent, the second was pretty rough (was still experimenting with pressure application on the blade), and now, a week later, I'm really starting to like the ATX. As to whether I prefer it or not, I'm going to give myself another week or two of shaves with the ATX before I decide, but I will say that my shaves with the ATX have been just as close as they have been with the Sport and possibly even less irritating.

On my Sport I used the Sensor adaptor with Sensor3 cartridges. With the ATX, I've only used the new HB4 razor that came with it so far, but it seems to be doing the job. In fact, I quite like it. I also much prefer the ATX when it comes to shaving the sides of my head. I think it's likely that the ATX may end up being my preference in the end. Unless something goes horribly wrong all of a sudden in the next couple of weeks. Being that you are inexperienced with any HB product, I've heard people say that the ATX is easier for first-timers to get into than the Sport.

Thanks guys, but I was hoping for more than "this is better than that." So far as I can tell, the sport is a closer shave, but I'm sure the ATX would help with the more complicated bits like the sides and cowlick...

Edit: Sorry if that was rude. I'd just like to weigh the benefits of each. And thanks for the advice.

Chris, for me the sport gives me a very smooth head, BBS. It is incredibly easy to use and also very quick when mastered.  The ATX for me just didn't quite work, I gave it more than enough time as well. I don't know if it was the adapter and blades or just the razor in general. It left me with a patchy head which I would have to finish off with the sport. Everyone is different, only YOU can decide which is best for you. Many people like the ATX many people like the Sport. Buy both, they ain't expensive and experiment.

I'm partial to the ATX it's been my go to razor for the last 6 months. I was in the group of testers that got a preproduction ATX earlier this summer.
I'd say that the ATX is certainly more forgiving than the sport. I've gotten some pretty good cuts with the sport (it looks like a car but make no mistake it's not a toy).

I am revisiting the idea of trying the ATX. I have been very happy with the Sport for quite a while, but in the past 2 weeks it seems like the Sport has been dragging. I have been ATG since day one and use Headslick etc. Blades are changed once a week. Has anyone else had this happen with the Sport? To be honest I have take to using my Fusion with Edge Gel in the past 3 days and it is smoother. Not sure if I just got a bad batch of HB triples this time. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am still waiting to win the ATX  sure glad I like my Sport with my luck.  I never had  a problem with any blades always shave in the shower with slick.  But love the fusion for my face most of the time.

I can only comment on the ATX, I love it with either the 4 blade or 6 blade cartridge. Easy to use, gives as smooth as a baby's bum shave with no nicks or cuts.

Don't think you can wrong with either. Some suit the ATX and some the Sports because of the way they use it, the shape of their scone, the difference in their skins or the difference in their hair.

Short answer is  I prefer the Sport to the ATX.  The Sport give a close easy shave, but is a different sort of feel to shaving than a stick razor.  The ATX uses a new type of adapter that basically acts more like a stick razor. It seems to me it's like a stick razor with more of a Headblade shape to the handle whereas the Sport is a different approach all together.

It's interesting to hear the feedback on the ATX.  I've been using the ATX for a few months now and I'll say that I could never see going back to the my HeadBlade Sport or my HeadBlade Eclipse (which is the expensive metal sport).  I've found that with the pulling motion that I'm able to save even more time with the ATX than I was with the sport.  Plus, with the amount that I travel I only have to take one razor. 

As with all the HeadBlades, I recommend you try various different blades that they sell along with their respective adapter.  For me, while I get a good shave with the 4 blade cartridge, I get a great shave with the HeadBlade double blades.  So my suggestion, is try the 4 or 6 blade system and if that doesn't give you the shave that you're used to with your sport or classic, then try the blades you use with the sport.

I have been shaving with the ATX for about 2-3 months and really like it. I used to have an older yellow Sport which is in the bin, but still keep my old S4 Shadow.
The pulling on the ATX is a real difference compared to the other models, it works fine for me. The most important for me was to find the right blades and to change the adapter, black or yellow, on the HB regularly
