Razor-Shaved For The First Time

After all the talk about how great it feels to have a razor-shaved head vs. a "buzzer" with no guard, I finally decided to try it yesterday. I always knew I would, but liked the feel of the stubble (I know, most people dont'...lol). But I knew I would do it one day, just to have something different. It's not like I could grow out my bangs for something different.
So, I buzzed it down with no guard as usual and used my regular face-shaving stuff (Gillette Mach III and Edge Gel for Sensitive Skin. The process was pretty quick and painless. The result was very smooth, especially on the back of my head. I thought I wouldn't be able to keep my head on the pillow last night..lol.
The wife liked it, but wanted me to take the beard down a notch... (she REALLY wants me to shave it off and leave the van-dyke). My plan was to grow the beard out a little more. I like the contrast between the slick head and a fuller beard. The beard is at about 25 days of growth, minus a few scissor trims of extra wayward hairs. I'm not sure if it will get thick enough, but I will keep on growing it.
The new avatar doesn't look much different than the last one, but the feel is much smoother.

Looks great.
As you said, visually it's not that much different. But the feeling for the 'wearer' is very different :-)
You'll have that "oooohhhh" moment every time you finish shaving and feel how smooth it is.
Enjoy!

Once you've experienced the feeling of a smooth dome, it's hard to go back! Glad you gave it a try.

There's no real visual difference between unguarded buzz cut and shaving your head. But as you now know, it feels so much smoother.
Great beard.

I think that you should keep it but its up to you personally I love the smoothness of my head so much more than having hair. If I remember that I read it correctly you said it took you only 27 days to get that beard and looks like longer. I say going ahead and try and shave all of your facial hair off and then regrow it again but then again you will be having to put up with a lot of itching hope it goes well for you

A bit biased here, but I think the beard looks great with the razor-shaved head! Keep it up!

As Tuesday was Day #1 ... is this Day #3?
And ... what, if any ... has the reaction been from family, neighbors, friends, etc.?
