Beginners head shaving kit, what should I get?
« on: May 30, 2007, 02:07:42 PM »
Alright, still haven't shaved yet, I'm in the process of building confidence and finding a good time.

What should I get?  I don't want a shiny head, and I would like a rather quick shave, so that I don't get lazy and will want to do it every day.

I would also like to maintain the non glossyness throughout the day, and I would want to be able to get color, while not getting burnt.  Suggestions?  I'm lookin for a beginning to end routine here.

Thanks a lot guys.

when i shaved mine i got 5 tanning sessions deal and did that to get some color on quick.

if you dont want a shiny head then use the headlube "Matte" lotion.....theres also Matte for men with spf 25..and i'm sure baldguyz.com has some too

Kajun mentioned the three major places to get your goods.  Don't forget to check out the SBG discount section to save you some cash!  http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?board=35.0

I just shaved my dome for the 1st time today and used a Mach III, though I did recently purchase a Headblade just haven't used it yet.

Try out the HeadShed Exfoliator, then use HeadLube, and then ClearHead, followed by the Matte lotion.  I tried the "Glossy" lotion today and the result was way too much shine IMO.  Headblade also has some sunscreen too called HeadShade but I haven't used it yet.

Look around here on the forum for alternatives - a couple of the guys have mentioned other products also.

Also, as someone who's been on the fence about going SLY, I finally shaved it all off today and I gotta tell you it's quite liberating.  Go for it!

KySly, It's unreal that you just shaved.  You look like a pro and a natural.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

if you haven't shaved you head yet, I would say to save your money. Use your existing wet razor and decide if you like it and want to keep it before dishing out for a HB and related products.

I have to say, look into sunscreen definatly.

And to go off of what has already been said, HeadBlade has some Dope Starter Kits.
