An odd shaped head(?)
« on: November 24, 2012, 11:36:15 PM »
Hey all!

I had been shaving my head for a month or two at the end of Summer, but tried growing my hair back over the past two months.

As it turns out, my MPB had gotten worse. Rather than constantly judging myself, I prefer feeling decent about my self-image by maintaining a shaved head =)

I like having a shaved head!! I like how I look straight-on, I feel that it suits me, and it looks much better than my thinning hair; but I also feel like I have a really strange head from the profile. I know we're always our biggest critic, but I was just curious if you guys think it's a little weird too, haha.

I apologize for the terrible lighting! I just finished shaving and took a quick picture in my room haha. It does outline the head shape though =)

Thanks a ton! Looking forward to participating in the community here more.

G'Day Bassman,

Your being too hard on yourself mate, looks fine to me, can't see anything wrong unless I am looking at the wrong spot.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone =) You're truly a very positive & supportive community - it is appreciated!

Specifically what was bothering me about my head shape is, with my skinny neck, the whole shelf/edge in the back always feels exaggerated. It ends up feeling as though I'm sporting a natural rasta cap. (think http://rastashop.us/images/rasta_bonnet_rouge_vert_jaune.jpg)

I've been fairly skinny/scrawny my whole life, always had posture issues, and have a pretty big head, so it'll probably always look strange; but I've been doing P90X for the past 2 weeks and am planning on going the whole way. That way, even if the noggin looks odd, at least it'll be complimented by a healthy body & spirit.

Just for curiosity's sake, do you guys have any tips on how to flatten out the back of the neck, and hopefully make it more flush with the little ridge? Or shall I just learn to live with it? =)

Thanks again, you guys are spectacular.

I don't think it's quite as exaggerated as wearing a rasta cap full time, I think you might have a longer/narrower neck then most people. but honestly, it is hardly noticable, it certainly wasn't the first thing that came to my attention!

I've not heard a request like that before, the only thing that comes to mind might be doing some neck specific exercises along with you P90X stuff... I'd be very careful with that though, I'd hate to pull a neck muscle... You could always listen to some metal, I know my neck feels like it's got a good workout after a good headbanging session haha... still a bit tender after friday night.

Nothing wrong with your head shape, nice structure--the only thing that could make it look odd would be to maintain a receding hairline on it. ;)

Hello Bassman and a hearty welcome to this forum.  Your head shape is no less or no more weird shaped than any of us here.  We all have individual shapes to our heads and to be perfectly honest, your headshape is nothing to worry about.  Just enjoy the way of Sly with confidence, even if you don't feel confident, act like you are and everything will work out.
