I was searching the web about baldness for some reason today and stumbled across this site, so I joined.

I am in my mid/late 20's and have been pretty much bald for more than 4 years.  I remember my last haircut from a barber was in May 2008 just a few days before Memorial Day.  I tried to salvage my hair for short period of time, but have gone with a full buzzed head most of the time.  I like the convenience of just taking my beard trimmer and clippers all the way around my head once a week and being done with it.  I have fully shaved my head once and I did not really like it.  I thought it was more work than just taking the clippers to my head on its lowest setting and I just didn't think it suited me.  It was strange that no one seemed to notice that I did it, which might say something about the way it looked (or how bald I am).

Right now I am wearing a beard with the closely buzzed head.  I have mixed feelings about how it looks, but a beard is a commitment and I don't want to all of a sudden decide to get rid of it.

I hope to get support and ideas regarding my baldness from this site.  I have pretty much came to terms with it, but every once in a while I get concerned with my image and self esteem.

Welcome to SBGs. You came to the right place for support, ideas, advice. This site has helped many deal with hair loss and to make the decision that is right for them. It did for me. If you can post a pic, you will get some suggestions as to what might work best.

Welcome to the family mate!

As mike said, if you are able to post up a picture we will be able to give you a bit more support. I agree with you 100% on not wanting to get rid of the beard, and if you decide on going with the sly look, then the bald and bearded combo is quite a popular one, and the 2 go hand in hand in my opinion.

Feel free to post up any questions you have and we'll do our best to help you, there are a few of us around the same age as you that have been dealing with the same problems, I myself just ticked over 26, and started shaving about 5 months ago now, and let me say it was one of the best things I ever did  O0

Welcome to the forum. The guys here are really supportive and I am sure you will find lots of info to help. I keep coming here to get that boost of confidence when I have heard something negative or have doubts about my decision. BTW I agree with beardman, bald and bearded just works.

Welcome ... a great bunch of folks here to offer support, encouragement and occasional stories.

Bald and bearded works. But so does bald and non-bearded (with or without septum piercing!)

You'll find a guys here with all kinds of reasons for being bald - those who are bald by nature, and those who are bald by choice. For the majority I'd say they are all very comfortable and confident being bald. Nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about.

What seems to trigger this feeling?

Welcome to the SBG forum.

Visibly, there's little difference between no guard buzz cut and shaving your head. It just feels different.

Consider keeping the beard and (nearly) bald look.
