Cortizone 10 usage questions

I've had a persistant rash on my head for the last year or so. And after trying lots of things eventually tried cortizone 10. Within a day I had cleared up and my head looks as good as it ever did.

Now I'm really not sure about how to use this and what the dangers might be? At present I've only used it for 2 and a half days. Should I stp using it now or should I continue for longer? If longer, what is the maximum number of days? Basically I look great want it to continue but know continued steroid use is no a good idea.


In case it's useful my present routine is: wash with matte for men soap, shave in shower, apply witch hazel, apply cortizone 10. I use st ives apricot scrub once or twice a week.

If your head is healed up .  Then stop and start if it should happen again.  It  will not hurt anything Cortizone is a Topical Steriod, good stuff it will heal and take care of any itch you might have. 

You might be using to many items and they could be reacting to your scalp.

More than likely. My rash started when I was messing about with products to reduce grease/shine.

I'd seen doctors also but as you wrote C-10 is the most effective for me also.

Cortizone makes skin more sensitive to sunlight. Using it long term is not good from what i got told.
I got it because of some skin disease which i have to deal with for the past 5 years. I only use it when it's needed (worse).

Use as needed is the best method (if it ain't broke).
Try not to use more than one product at once to see if you can isolate the one that's causing your irritation.

If you use cortizone for a long time it thins out the skin and exposes the blood vessels giving you that "Bar Tan" look.  But this only happens after years of frequent use.

If you're using the OTC (Over the Counter) in the US the formulation is very safe and the chance of adverse effects are minimal.  Prescription (those supplied by medical prescription only) strengths should be used with attention to the package directions.
