So, I haven't gone shaved yet, but when I do, what do I do about the winter weather? The cold, dry air always causes my knuckles to crack and bleed, will anything like this be a concern formy scalp? And as for keeping in heat, would a bandana(biker, durag, whatever style it's called) match hair in keeping the warmth in? I can't stand being overly warm, so I don't know about beanies.

After you shave apply some Witch Hazel with aloe vera or just aloe vera. It'll moistureize your head. Doo-rag will help as will a beanie, knit cap, ball cap, hoodie.

It's important to keep your skin moisturized. Use aloe or any other good moisturizer like Nivea.
You'll definitely notice the cold more during the first winter with a shaved head. Use a cap, hat or beanie. It's my second cold season with a shaved head and I don't notice the cooler temps nearly as much as last year. In fact, I hardly notice the coolness on my scalp at all.
Give it a try and if it's too uncomfortable, let your hair grow back a little.

You should moisturize after each shave. Even when I skip a day or two, I'll still apply it. When it does get really cold, I'll just wear a ball cap or a knit cap. Typically in the winter, i do shave everyday. Pretty tough to pull a knit cap over over a day of stubble! that sandpaper traction. Either shave everyday or wear a short buzzcut if you need to wear a knit cap.

If your face can stand the cold without cracking and falling off, so can your dome.
There is the old wives' tale that--what it was it? 50% of your heat? Is lost through the head? Not true.
For comfort? Cheaper and easier is best for head warmth. Watch cap.

I suspended head shaving for the winter last year at the end of October only to realize half way through November that I could've kept shaving. It was such a mild winter that on new years day I resumed my head shaving ways; I've been daily shaving ever since then (except for a few days when I had to let a cut heal).
Get a hat you like and you're good to go. For the knuckle problem, I had that too until I learned that in the winter I need to use lotion on my hands. I recommend Gold Bond.

Ditto , on that can find them cheap at M. Surplus stores. They don't itch, and I love um.

Keep your head well moisturised, along with your hands, if they tend to crack.

I just want to know, will a bandana be able to replace my hair in keeping in heat? Even if it doesn't match it, that's good. I don't like heat, but don't want to be too cold.
