Hey guys, I love shaving my head, and when I realized I was going bald, I got a few lumps removed from my scalp earlier in the year. The problem is that the scars are still pretty red and the scar tissue is still a little bumpy. Is there any cream or product that I could put on the scars to speed up the healing process? I would at least like something that would reduce that redness and flatten the scar tissue. Does anyone know of anything that could help me?
I have had a few scalp surgeries....They're only visible if you look at my head up close, but to answer your question, Cortisone cream, Mederma Scar Cream and Aloe Vera is what I use. As a black man, if I want to "mask" said scars, I've been using BB cream on my scalp. This was recommended by our brother KDusk. Regular use of BB cream will eventually help the scars blend in with the rest of your scalp, but I think Cortisone cream used regularly is the best route. If you want your scar to flatten faster, get Band-Aid blister ampoules and wear them to bed over your scars every night. Good luck, brother and PM me if you have any questions. Side note: Scars are what make our heads ours, I wouldn't lose any sleep over them.
My sister says that bio oil should clear the scars up. Has anyone else tried it?
Bio oil did nothing for me. There is 100% silicone gel available called Scar Away. In the US it is sold at som,e CVS and Walgreens. I have used that for scalp scars and a few others. It does improve them somewhat. Not tried BB cream. Have had a fraxel laser used on my HT scalp scars with much improvement in terms of flattening them and shrinking them.
My surgeon friends usually recommend Vit. E cream , comes in a tube. I have heard alot of good reports on it.
