I always had short hair..... mostly buzz-cuts of one sort or other. Taking the step to become bald-by-choice was quite a bit of a challenge at the time for me as where I worked & lived nobody was bald-by-choice.

I went to the barbers on a weekend and had a really short buzz cut (#00000) , went into work on the Monday & my boss & work-mates took notice & made comments like, "cool haircut,Bill!" or "Baldy!". The next day after work I went back to my barber and asked him to shave my head bald. Although I was nervous, I enjoyed the experience of going from having hair to completely bald by choice. The rest as they say is History.

Great story bill. Once you start going shorter blade length by blade length, you eventually end up with shaved head at some point! Once you're at a #0 or shorter, it's very easy to get the razor out and shave the noggin clean. At that length, i think shaving is easier than self buzzing.

I think there's something intensely empowering about having the guts to shave your head. My barber told me once he thinks every man ought to try it (or a short buzzcut) once in their life just to see what it's like.

But whether it's getting there through progressively shorter clipper cuts (guilty here) or deciding to take it down to the wood in one swoop, once you do it and are comfortable with it (and as a result, comfortable with yourself) you realize you are in control and even growing it to stubble or a crewcut once in a while then taking it slick sly again just because you like how it looks and makes you feel far outweighs any concern that others might not like or accept it.

Whether BBC or BBN,  being in the driver's seat calling the shots is what does it for me.

Agreed. And with self buzzing, you have the hair to clear up afterwards. And an itchy back and shoulders covered with hair bits.

I think the other guys in the office at a bit jealous of my bald head.  They all have short hair. They like to joke about my head shave in a good way.I just know them to join me and explain the benefits.
