Edge Gel
« on: September 30, 2012, 08:17:45 PM »
I have been draining - literally - a bottle of Headslick all week, intending to buy a new one over the weekend.  I forgot all about it yesterday and today I took a day off from shaving.  I finally remembered late in the day while I was doing some other chores, but by that time the local CVS  was closed.  I was in the supermarket and had to get something for tomorrow morning's shave, so I picked up a small can of Edge Gel.  I noticed that Dana White of the UFC was pictured on the can.  Gilette has never marketed any of their products specifically to head shavers, as far as I know, but this looks like they may  be finally trying to get a piece of this niche of the market.  It definitely lends credence to the argument that sly has gone mainstream.

I have never tried shave soap. What kind would you recommend and where might one find it?

A good starter soap would be Van der Hagen shave soap.  It can be found at any Wal-Mart and most drugstores like CVS and Walgreens.  It has a great, clean scent and lathers pretty well.

I love the RazoRock shave soaps. Mike's Naturals soap is also very nice.

I am into my 3rd can and have had good luck using Edge gel.  IIt produces a thick rich lather when applied with a brush.

I have tried about everything over the last 12 years, and finally have been shaving my head, and face at the same time using VAN DER HAGEN ! It has a Black Cup, Black Brush, great soap smells good and it is a good hot shave you feel refreshed.  I then have found I have the best luck with Fusion Razors and blades.  After the shave take a good shower and put on some fufu and ready to rock and roll.  Mainly rock in my chair  ;D

I still prefer Headslick as the Edge gel does not give me a close enough shave and yes stubble is an issue earlier in the day.
