Iphone 5

I just got my new Iphone 5 and love it. I can't believe all the new things it can do. I was wondering if any of you guys have gotten one? If so what do you think, and what do people think of Apple?

I am very pleased with my iMac (this one about four years old), but I own no other Apple product.

But then I'm also OK with my Windows machine (a Dell) at my office--the machine is "mine" only in the sense it's in my office, but I get regular upgrades, and have the newest in the last month or so.

As to Apple:  Well, there are other views of the firm.  Here's one I ran across just today:

My own phone?  Well, I've got one that's worked fine for about forty years: it's black, Bakelite, hangs on the kitchen wall, and both takes and transmits phone calls.  Of course, it doesn't do anything else...  But I bear up.

What new things can it do, that an iPhone 4S with ios6 can't? I'm intrigued. I know it's bigger, lighter, faster, but that wasn't enough for me to upgrade to one. Instead I went for the Galaxy S3 and much prefer it to my 4S.

I tell you one thing. It sure can't dunk.

I've been using Macs from way back when everyone thought Apple was going out of business, and have been using Apple products since.

The characterization that I'm doing so because of some sort of "cult worship", or because I'm some sort of crowd-following sheep, is nothing short of laughable.

I'm a computer professional with over three decades of experience, and a published author in the field. I base my decisions upon the value that the product brings to me.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Apple products.

Oh, to answer the original question: I have an iPhone 4S that's serving me well. When it comes time to replace it, I'll likely consider an iPhone 5.

But I don't see any need to replace my current phone right now just because something new is available. My 4S does everything I need it to do.

Can't afford a iPhone, nor the monthly contract for data. I'll stick with my tracfone. It only works in about 30% of the places I go. I live sufficiently rural that this is no dependable coverage for any phone plan out here, so why pay for an expensive plan that does not give you enough access.

BTW, my plan is $17 per month for BOTH my wife AND I. How about yours?

I just upgraded myself last Sunday, but to a 4S. I've been carrying an iPhone for four years and I love it, but the i5 didn't bring enough of a change to make me want to wait 2-3 weeks for it to come in the mail. The 4S is nice and I'm loving it, but it's got features I'll probably never use such as Siri and iCloud. My main reason for upgrading was to get increased memory capacity.

I love the 4s and I'm not intending to buy an i5. I will definitely continue buying iPhones though due to the ease of integration. I agree with Bear, my first computer was an apple performa 550 and that thing was still running perfectly in 2005 when I sold it (not that I hadn't upgraded before then)

Count me as another who has the 4s and doesn't plan on getting the 5.  The new features aren't groundbreaking (or impressive) enough to warrant an expensive upgrade.  I got the 4s when it was only a month or so new so it's got plenty of more mileage in it.  New iPhone models come out like clockwork anyway so if I decide to upgrade it will be to the 5s or 6.  No point in getting a 3, 4, or 5 when the improved 3gs, 4s, and 5s are predictably released almost a year later.

I still have my Macintosh Plus that I bought in 1986, with its 9-inch black and white screen , 1 full megabyte of memory (a very big deal at the time) and no hard drive.  It's been on a shelf in my garage for the past dozen years but I can't seem to bring myself to get rid of it.

I have a Droid X that works great. My son is thinking about upgrading his phone to a S3.

Bear I couldn't agree with you more. I grew up on a Mac Classic. I love all my apple products I have a Macbook pro, iPad, iPhone, and iPod. I love the simplistic nature of them. The problem I have with android products is that they come out with one every 4 months. I don't want to buy something and then four months later something better comes out. With apple they come out about ever 12 to 18 months. The whole cult thing to me is a joke. I pick a product for many reasons and none of those is because everybody else has one. I'm happy with my mac products. When I had a PC I would get viruses all the time. I have my Macbook for a year now and havn't had any viruses or problems. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and I value all of yours.
