Hydro 5

I am going to shave my head later tonight or tomorrow ( I'm trying to decide wether to go to the barber or do it myself) and I have a Hydro 5 razor and a pack of blades that my Dad gave me that he didn't want, hasn't ever been opened! Anyone used this and is it any better than my Mach 3?

I can't say specifically about the Hydro 5, but the similar Fusion gives a marginally closer shave than a Mach 3. Give it a try and see what you think.

I use the Sheik Hydro 5 and think it gives me a better shave, the blade seems to be more forgiving than others I have used. Blade choice is a personal preference though and there are many people on here that use different types (cartridge, Double Edge, and maybe Straight edge). Would definitely trim with hair with clippers first to the shortest you can get, no guard, to make the shave smoother and less work.

I can't speak to any cartridge razor after the Atra. I have been using a double edged razor for almost 10 years on the dome.

To start clip it as short as possible with clippers. Wash your head, this will soften the hair and make shaving it easier. Lather up and shave With the Grain for your first pass. Rinse the razor frequently as it will tend to clog fast. Rinse your head and see if it is close enough. IF not lather again and go Against then Grain using just the weight of the razor. If you put too much pressure you may end up tender afterward.   Rinse again and hit your head up with some witch hazel (alcohol aftershave will burn some). Sit back and look at the new you!

I can't compare it to a Mach 3 but it is a good razor IMO. It is gentle and forgiving. I've rarely cut my dome with it. When I don't use the HeadBlade, I use that one. Also, the shave lasts most of the day. It usually isn't until late afternoon that I start to feel sand papery.

@ aaarrrggg: I did shave it 4 years ago but I frll off the wagon! Now I've grown alot and really think I can handel / stand for what I want this time!

I have used the hydro 3 not the 5 and it shaves better then mach3 and their shave gel works well to
