Hey Gents,
Next weekend is a big day for me. I'll be doing the best man speech for one of my close buddies. The speech is already done and I've practiced it to a "T" What I am more curious about is the reactions at the wedding of my Sly move. I moved away from home about 13 months ago with thinning hair at best and have shaved since.
I guess one way to introduce the new me is to do it on stage in fron of 150 people. The great part is there is no way out of this, I'm commited

Wish me luck

Just relax, once you start talking, you'll loose the jitters and do fine.
The bald head will just add punch to what you say. You look great bald. Everyone should do it.

That's quite an honor. Just relax, I'm sure you'll do just fine once you get started.

Make an awkward joke about yourself, then the tension will be gone!
"Seeing you two together gives me goosebumps that makes the hair stand up on my head...I mean arms" or something corny like that.
If anyone ever says anything about my hair, I just give them the line "I told the barber to get crafty, and this is what I walked away with".
Just have fun, looks good man.

Good luck! The best thing that I usually do when I have to speak in front of large crowds is to treat it simply as a conversation with several people at once...just let your thoughts naturally flow and just remember, don't let the thoughts of your new look overtake you...especially since it's going to be mostly about the marrying couple anyway. Let us know how it goes!

Hint: If you have anything to say about you, include facts about bald..jokes, et cetera. it will make them laugh, and you'll get over it easier

The reactions should come before you get to the speech part, plus only friends and people who knew you before going sly will have a reaction.
You can have some speech notes written down with you. Most probably you will not need them, but it will be like an assurance that everything will be ok.

You look great! Odds are you will get lots of compliments. Break a leg with the speech!

I think you'll be great...you'll wear nice clothes, a super shinny head and you are what is called "a subject matter expert" you know the bride and especially the groom, so you know what to say without a script, right? And Plano, had an excellent idea about a joke. Good luck!

I speak from experience, being a Best Man is nerve wracking no matter what you look like! The focus isn't really on you per se. Have a few jokes/comments about your new look, but chances are you wont need them.
It's a good feeling doing the speech, better when it's done and you get the applause!

I'm sure you'll do a great job. I just hope your new look doesn't upstage the bride and groom!

You don't need luck. Your speech is prepared, the handsome face and smooth dome will seal the deal.

How did it go?
Indeed! We need an update on the wedding. Did the groom skip town, anyone fall in the cake and was anything happening in the coat room? Give us the scoop, Tinsley!
