Of course, makes perfect sense. Thanks, should have figured that out on my own.

I wish I did this a long time ago!

Yet another--you're just saying what so many of us have said.  Now we just have to convince the fencers that they will be saying it too, once they clean up the dying mops they continue to nurse past their due date!

Yes. I've been a "fencer" for a while. No regrets, though.

I saw one yesterday which was truly horrendous.

Clearly he thinks he's fooling everyone.
Clearly he's fooling no one.

Quite sad, and he would look good sly. He's a customer, I hadn't seen him previously, so there's no relationship to approach the subject.

Not to worry, anyway, you're home now, welcome!

Angus, welcome!  Your reaction is typical.

As to finding the right razor, try experimenting a bit.  You'll get comfortable with the blade pretty quickly.   I started with a HeadBlade, moved to a combination of the Panasonic followed by the HB, then moved to the Fusion alone and am now working on a DE.  It's all in pursuit of the perfectly smooth shave!  So have fun and try different things!

Thanks for the votes of confidence and welcomes. I've been using the electric only because I've been nervous about puttiing a blade to my head but this morning, I tried a Gillette Fusion Proglide with Headslick and WOW what a difference. Absolutely smooth head! I love it! I have a feeling I'll use some combination of the two ongoing only because the Panasonic is easier and makes me less nervous but the blade definitely gives me the smoothness I'm looking for. Guess I'll figure it out over time. I wish I did this a long time ago!

The slick smooth feel of a razor shaved head it one of the things that keeps me shaving every morning. Love that feel.

Of course the bald look is dynamite too. Just oozes confidence.

Welcome. I hope you stick around and keep posting until you have over 1000 posts!

Thank you again for the welcomes, votes of confidence, and tips. Just curious though, is "sly" an acronym for something or just a catchy name? Is there a particular forum here (other than the intros) that you think I should look into. I'm in the wood stove business and there's a particular forum that I look at and contribute to among the many available on hearth.com so I figured there must be one here that might be the most helpful and/or entertaining.

It's a frequent question ... and the answer is secreted among the posts.

Much of the fun is exploring and learning along the way.

But if you want a direct route ... go to this topic: http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?topic=3939.0

And you, too, will be "in the know"

Now as for the source of the magic decoder ring, I'm not permitted to give out that information ...

Damn, I really wanted the magic decoder ring, but thanks for the other link. So, I'm still experimenting with daily maintenance. Maybe I'm looking for the "quick route to smoothness" and perhaps there is none. Tomorrow I am going to try a pre-shave product with just the Panasonic and see how that goes. I like the blade with HeadSlick but it's time consuming in the AM getting ready for work.

The time required for shaving will significantly diminish as you become comfortable with the blade against your scalp and familiar with your head's special features. I noticed the decrease in time right at about day #15 (but I'm a slow learner). By day #30 it didn't take any longer to shave than to shampoo/dry. Just FYI.
