How do you keep your head Sly?
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:33:20 PM »
SO I'm thinking about shaving my head and going for the sly look, But I would like to know what methods you guys use to keep it nice and bald. Do you shave it everyday? I want to look completely bald with no shadow so I'm guessing i would have to shave every morning right? How could i prevent bumps?

I shave it everyday. if you have a full head of hair, you can not get rid of the shadow effect. it is not that bad, though.

As long as you have hair to shave you will have a shadow... just the way it is. Shaving daily will certainly reduce the shadow effect though.

Yup, shave daily.

The shadow or stubble is the natural result of hair growing. Only you will notice either, and no one (other than possibly yourself) will care.

The stubble, which I begin to notice in early afternoon, merely sets the stage for a fabulous BBS (Baby Butt Smooth) shave the next morning. In a perverse manner, the stubble is quite a gift. (Which keeps on giving.)

I'm BBC. I Shave my head daily.

Concerning shadow.  I see a bald guy at a distance. Then I get up close. Oh, he has not shaved for several days . There I  stubble, but I could not see it at a distance.same with shadow.  You are looking from less than  12 inches.everyone else is looking from several feet or more. They don't see it.

Not to worry.

How long you stay smooth depends on how fast your hair grows.

Shave daily.
A slight tan helps to hide the inevitable shadow a bit, but it is not really an issue.

Having skipped a couple of days shaving recently when I gashed my help by being clumsy I can also say that going grey means any shadow is less obvious.

I have a bunch of randomly placed grey hairs when I grow my hair out. My hair is still predominately dark. I was thinking about possible growing my hair out then bleaching it to see if that would reduce the shadow.  :*))

I have an annoying shadow island on top of my forehead. My tan always has a reedier hue and my forehead is always red, looks burnt but it is not. So having a shadow in the middle of the red looks funny to me. I use electric tweezers to pluck the hairs there to eliminate the shadow and then I shave the rest. Some guys tweeze there whole head.that gets rid of all the shadow but it has its downsides. Go to scalptweezing.com for more info. The guy that made the site wants to be bald to the extreme degree so some might think he is a bit radical. But there are some guys on this forum that tweeze like he does with great results.

I doubt that would work, Stumpy.  You'd bleach the hair that you are going to cut off, but the hair below the skin would still be dark. You can't easily bleach the hair that has not grown yet!

As mentioned, daily shaving is the best way to stay smooth. The best way to stay smooth throughout the day is to get a close shave in the morning. When I started head shaving I didn't take the time to get a super close smooth shave and thought maybe my head just wasn't built for it, but now I've learned how to get a close shave.

Daily shaver here too. Being BBC I have a strong shadow. As others have said though, you will notice it more than those around you. If I shave in the morning and apply a glossy lube, the shadow is less noticeable. Late in the day you can get the sandpaper effect but that is what makes the next shave great. Good luck
