I waited far too long to take the plunge.
I wasn't sure whether I was balding or not
It will make you feel better about yourself and thats whats most important
If anyone makes a huge deal over it then they arent worth your time.
QuoteI waited far too long to take the plunge.I think Im going for it too early, but I dont want the hassle
I like it around my family and friends but when i go out i always seem to end up wearing a hat. but i'm slowly getting used to it.
hey,I remember that second night after i shaved it, i was on this site and reading how everyone talks about more confidence, a better feeling, etc. I felt like it was great motivation but frankly some grade-a bullsh*t. Let me tell you I was completely WRONG....these guys were absoluty right! (i apologize now for thinkin otherwise) about a week to two weeks in, I felt as if there was a complete new person within me. I DID feel more confidence, i felt better, i thought i looked better. And the dating scene improved for me like night and day.-Leo
this thread was started nearly a year ago (!!) but the stories are certainly still relevant.i'm almost 22, and this summer all of a sudden my hair just seemed to be falling out, and quite rapidly at that. i've loved wearing hats most of my life, so i was able to just forget about it for a while, but then i realized i can't wear a hat ALL the time. so, i took my clippers out and buzzed my golden locks off. the relief was instantaneous. i began obssesively researching balding and tried to figure out if it was just stress or (oh no!) the dreaded mbp. being young, and with no family history of mbp, i decided that it would all grow back, i just needed to give it time. well, this past fall i tried letting it grow to see what would happen, but i wasn't pleased. it wasn't terrible i s'pose. my hairline wasn't receding, there was just some deforestation going on up top. most people were just like "weird, you're hair is lighter (colored) on top" but all i could think of was looking like a 21 year old bozo the clown. it became winter time, so i just forgot about it for a while (classes and such) and just wore a winter cap most of the time.anyways, i fortunately found this site pretty early in my struggles and it helped me deal with some of the emotional aspects of my thinning hair, and, most importantly, helped me realized i was not alone! i buzzed my hair w/ a #0 in early december to test out the waters again, but knowing i really wanted to just shave it. the only reason i didn't shave it was because it's winter and i reasoned i would wait for warmer weather.well, over break i just got bored and reallllly wanted to shave it off, so i bought some new blades for my mach3 and went to town. personally, i'm very pleased with the results and very excited to go back to school and show it off. i wish i went to school somewhere a bit warmer, because its likely that i'll need to wear a hat to class simply out of necessity rather than vanity.
If you get a chance post up some pics. Before and After would be cool.
