I hope that you all have taken the necessary steps to prepare for the hurricane. I pray that you will be spared the brunt of the storm. Be safe!!

Thanks, Doug! As I type this, so far so good...the power is still on and I have the TV tuned to the official "Hurricane Isaac Channel" Right now I hear the wind picking up in my area, and it appears that New Orleans is faring out okay so far, but the power is out in numerous places...Tomorrow (today actually, its after midnight) will tell the tale...Ironically, today is the seventh year anniversary of Katrina....but I think many people learned their lesson from that and just got out of Dodge.

I've PMd with both Harry and Saintc a couple of times in the last few days. So far so good as of last evening but the storm came aground during the night.
Let us know that you're OK guys!
Peace and Prayers to all the great people of Louisiana and that entire area in general.

It's now nearly 0700 at Sir Harry's castle and I'm certain he and Saintc are hunkered down listening to the rain and wind outside. Like all of us who are life long Gulf Coasters they are prepared and know what to do....we always keep an axe in the attic. Good luck, Saintc 'n' SSH!

Thanks, guys....As of right now, my power is still on (I'm about 50 miles away from New Orleans) The winds are picking up, but surprisingly, my cable (DirecTV) is holding up well! Gonna call the family who stayed behind in the city....keeping the house ready for any relatives that may have to come up. Will keep you guys posted as long as I have power....I do still have my cellphone if needed.

It's a big surprise to see you post. I would have bet the farm and the tractor that your lights were off by now. From looking at the track it should be going over your place. Say, you aren't still in the Guard are you? Best of luck to you, Harry.

Slynito, I retired on August 1st.....partially by choice, partially by force.....I actually live near Baton Rouge. As for Saintc, power is out in the majority of New Orleans right now, and it's very likely that he's affected by power outages and/or flooding. New Orleans is five feet below sea level, whereas Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas are roughly 20 feet above sea level, so flooding won't hit here as easily. I spoke with some of my former soldiers, and they are at various locations waiting for this to blow over...my prayers go out to them.

Saintc says so far he's just without power. That was as of about 90 minutes ago.

It's now 11:10 am....Power is still on, talked to family. Doug, thanks for the update on Saintc, hope he is staying safe. Winds have picked up, and so far only the door trim on one of the bedroom windows fell off but I was able to retrieve it before it flew away and caused any damage. All of the local channels are tuned into storm updates, schools are closed for the rest of the week and I am watching rescue efforts going on in Plaquemines Parish (county). The interstates (some segments) are closed and people are stressing for us to stay inside. I also pulled in my metal address sign for fear that would fly away too. Will keep giving you updates as long as power allows. Thanks for your prayers and concern!

Living in beautiful Pensacola... we are only a 3.5 hour drive from N.O. so we experienced tropical storm weather. Thank goodness no damage in my neighborhood and we have power. To all my fellow Gulf Coast Brothers... Pburke, Saintc, SirHarry, and Noodles... I hope you guys are safe and sound.
