Gillette Slim Twist – found in garden!

With my recent addiction to DE shaving, this was so weird I had to share...
I have a big garden which I choose to maintain myself. This includes cutting the grass with a high powered brush cutter, a five hour job.
On Saturday I was sitting at the bottom of the garden, resting, changing the brush cutter nylon. While seated, I looked down and saw a mud covered object. I lifted it up, blew off some sand and immediately recognised it a double edge razor with a white square plastic handle circled with thin grooves and an adjustable ring under the butterfly head. Excited, it lay in my top pocket until the lawn was finished.
That afternoon I cleaned it thoroughly as recommended on other sites. The following day I had to carefully sand a few minor rust spots with oil and 1200 paper, then spend the best part of the day polishing it with metal polish and ear buds (Q-tips) I was surprised at how clean I got it! Unfortunately it is not in great “collectable” condition, but not too bad either. It was clear it will still produce a decent shave.
Today I Googled it and learned it is a Gillette Slim Twist, made in England probably late 60’s, maximum to 1972. There are some cool reviews on different sites. Not a very aggressive razor, not terribly pleasant on the eye with the long plastic handle, but this evening it delivered a superb BBS head and face shave with my ultimate favourite -- the Astra SP Blade. I enjoyed the balance and weight and am truly stoked to add this to my personal armoury. (Unfortunately I am still struggling to post photographs, but I will when I can)
What a lucky little find? Now I have three decent DE’s; my SABI, the Gillette SuperSpeed - Flare Tip (both as gifts from halfway across the world) and my freaky “garden find” Gillette Slim Twist.
This man is fast becoming an exclusive DE shaver!

Waine,
Great find! Glad to hear that it gave you a smooth shave even after years in the rough. Gillette should contact you and make an advertisement out of your story.

Dude, I'm coming to Durban as soon as I take leave. Who knows what next we could unearth. Oil? Gold? The Kruger Millions?

What makes this story so great is that you took the time to clean it and actually use it. Bravo!

Wow! A nice find! I largely find little frogs and dozens of mosquito bites in my garden! Congratulations! Any theories on how it got there?
