Vibram Five Fingers Running "Shoes"
« on: August 22, 2012, 08:17:31 PM »
I tried the Vibram Five Fingers running shoes (they're basically like gloves for your feet - thin nylon fabric, no sole, grippy little lines and dots on the bottom for traction, and of course, individual pockets for each toe). I took the salespersons advice and walked around in the house for a few hours a day for a week to let my feet adjust.  Tonight, I tried them on the treadmill at the gym.  They take some getting used to - my stride felt awkward for the first few minutes and my feet didn't feel very comfortable, but after a short time, everything seemed to click into place.  The only noticeable difference was that my hamstrings felt like they were being stretched more.  I'll have to see how I feel in the morning, though.

Has anyone else tried these "shoes"?  I'd like to hear about your experience with them.

Those shoes are an interesting concept And everyone I know who has a pair likes them but I'm not sure I could get used to having the fabric between my toes.
Hair is over rated.

Thanks!  I'll keep at it and see how I adjust to them.  Supposedly they help you develop a more natural stride that is less punishing on the joints over the long run.
