Hey sorry if this has been discussed already and I didn't find the thread but I'm wondering if Headblade users actually use the headblade cream for the most part? I find I get a much smoother/closer shaves using my gilette gel i use for my face.. only been using the blade for about 4 months.

Welcome to the bald brotherhood TorontoDave. Nice profile pic, bald is second nature to you. I have not tried the headblade cream so I cannot comment, maybe other bald brothers will give their inputs in awhile.

Welcome TorontoDave,
'round here the encouragement is to use whatever works best for you.
That said, there are a lot of us who are very pleased with HeadSlick. I find a very small amount is needed (like the size of a pea) and it is extremely slick which is a good thing.
It was on sale at the local drug store last week and I laid in a generous supply :-)

thanks appreciate the welcome, maybe ill give that a try using a smaller amount, i found that i had to use a lot and it didnt leave me feeling as smooth, but i definitely love the headblade device and i still use the lube for after.. also im not really shaving every day right now, more like every 2-3 days.

Yeah, I find just a small amount will create plenty of lather if you rub it in thoroughly. It does seem to dry out and disappear before I'm entirely done but I just put a little water on my hand and rub it in to revitalize it.
I think if you use too much it might be a dissatisfying experience.

What's probably happening is you're not using enough water to create a lather. When I first used HeadSlick I just squeezed it out and put it straight on my head and tried to start shaving. It doesn't work very well like that and you have to use a lot. The best way to use HeadSlick is either by rubbing a pea sized amount with plenty of water or use a wet brush to create lather. After you try this I can almost guarantee you'll never go back to Gillette gel.

HeadSlick is great! Small amount on a wet Wally World shave brush will get you TWO passes easily.
That said... I've recently fallen in Love with higher end shave soaps. Check out the DE section for info on these. Ditch that can my friend... that stuff is garbage.

Welcome, TD27! I just started learning how to use the headblade, but I use a brush with shaving soap or just whatever. I think the shaving brush can make any soap, gel or foam more effective....and I've been getting more closer shaves. I suggest investing in a shaving brush if you haven't already. Good Luck!

I'm using the gillette mach 3 gel, but there are the headblade products that you can buy from the official site

A small amount of HeadSlick with a little water gives a nice creamy lather. If you are a righty, put a small amount of HS in the palm of your left hand, splash a few drops of water on it, and work it around. After you lather your head, don't rinse your left hand. Keep the remaining lather to re-lather your scalp if you want to make multiple passes. That's one of the benefits of HeadSlick - with a lew drops of water, it will stay creamy.

Like the others have said, a wet shaving brush and a small amount of HS will do wonders for your shaving experience.
Also, welcome!
