questions for headbladers
« on: August 20, 2012, 09:18:54 AM »
hey, headbladers. got some questions for you. please be gentle and help me out a little bit....
first off: how much time took you to get the hang of the headblade?
second: what cartridges are you using?
third: if you have a full head of hair, and if you shave daily, how many shaves does a cartridge last? thanks in advance.

A few shaves - I don't remember the exact number
Wilkinson Sword blades (Gillette Atra equivalents)
5-7 shaves

I have a full head of hair. Shave it bald daily.

It took about a week to get used to the HB. Take it easy at first. No rush. You'll get it soon enough.

I use the standard HB blade.

I do supplement with a Schick hydro 5. Change blades about once a week on both.

thanks. I;m at day three, and I kind of got the hang of it (  this means: no pressure applied, the pad was always touching my head,  so no cuts or so), which is good. the  HB sport is suppose to arrive tomorrow, so I'll see about it.
Still have problems on getting it perfectly done, especially on the back of my head ( i go wtg there, got iritated when tried to to atg, so i am now healing )

About 5 days.
Standard HB sport cartridges.
About 7 days going both wtg and atg every day.
Hair is over rated.

Pretty much the same as Mark, I can usually get a week of daily shaves, I don't have a full head of hair but the back is very thick

It took me a few shaves to get it right
I use the Sensor, Sensor Excel or Sensor 3 blades
I use them for about 14 days, which is about 12 shaves (usually skip a day or so every week) I have to say that I give my blades a royal treatment....rinse them with alcohol and using a blade sharpener. After the 14 days I use the same blade for shaving my face for another 7 to 14 days....don't care about super smoothness as I do with my dome...

It was about a week for the "break-in" period. Very gentle. And I still had mishaps during the next week or so.

Using Gillette CustomPlus3 blades

Six shaves. I'd prefer 7 which would make it easier to keep track of, but when I've stretched to 7 that's when I end up with irritation or unplanned nicks.

Paul, my answer is about the same as Doug, except for the amount of shaves I get. I often use a stick razor such as the Hydro, Mach III, Atra etc. in between my use of the HB, so I get plenty of shaves. I would say probably around 8-10 before I change the cartridge. Each person will be different though, so you may get more or less.
I do suggest trying the Wilkinson-Sword double cartridges, they work great.  O0

I took to the HeadBlade instantly.
Sensor 3
Replace cartridge every 2 weeks. But there's less hair to shave these days...

Mr Jules ... don't know which caught my eye first, the beer or the shiny dome.

Both look great, and refreshing!

Do you prefer the Wilkinsons to the Sensors?

Yes I do Mark, I never had any luck with the Sensors for some reason. I always ended up with missed spots, and felt I had to take way to many passes or strokes over the same areas. In my opinion the Wilkinson's are the best of the bunch, and at a great price as well.
