I'm neither older nor a guy but I finally checked out this thread out of curiousity and let me just say I am SHOCKED to hear how old you guys are! I would have pegged many of you 10-20 yrs younger. Clearly the sly suits.
Carry on men.
Thanks Bella, a lot of my friends think I look younger than I really am. One of many reasons why I love the sly look.

Tried it out when I was about 25 years old for 3 weeks, didn't like it then. Tried the look again now I'm 41 years old and love it.
You're 41?? :0

Yup, benefits of a very healthy lifestyle and I didn't get to see much sunlight for 10 years when I worked night shifts so not too wrinkled yet!

Being 30, I'm not sure I qualify as an older gentleman but I'm going to answer the question anyway. First head shave was when I was 27 (2010), I only kept it up a week because I didn't know what I was doing and kept getting razor burn. I found this site learned the proper way to shave then regrouped and have been sly ever since. That first year I took the winter off because I thought it'd be too cold to have a shaved head. I was wrong, I could have shaved all winter, that year it was a very mild winter. So new years day 2011 while sitting on my front porch in 60 degree temps I decided to go permanently sly. Only thing that kept me from completing the 365 challenge was a few days where I didn't shave because I was letting a cut heal.

I played Warbucks in a production of Annie when I was 31. I was pretty bald by then, but wore a skin wig (called a Woochie, it think) and liked what I saw. I just didn't want to go with it right then because I was about to get married and had a career I was building in a VERY conservative field.
I didn't finally go sly until I was 51.

I shaved a pretty full head of long hair on August 24, 2009, at age 61. I did it so I could get my lion tattoo. I had not even had short hair since I was about 12 and had been as much a hippie as I could get by with for most of my life. The tattoo took four sessions from August 31 until October 20, 2009, to complete. During that time I only shaved three times, when the tattoo was healed enough to tolerate a shave and additional tattoo work.
After the tattoo was finished and healed, I kept it shaved until November 15. I was curious to see if my hair would ever hide the tattoo so I intended to let it grow at least a couple of months.
But I didn't make it. I really wanted to be Bald By Choice again. And I wanted to be able to show off my magnificent lion in his full glory. So on December 28, 2009, I shaved six weeks of hair growth. I might have gone three days between shaves a few times since, but I shave almost every day and intend to do so until I am no longer able.
There are very few things a man can do that feel better than rubbing his slick dome! Too bad we all didn't figure that out years sooner.

I first shaved with a razor at age 58. I clipper shaved for about 8 months before that. I enjoy a good shave everyday. I find it to be very refreshing.

A lot of people tell me that I look younger since I first went sly. I like hearing that.

That's great, Mr. Joe! I don't know what you looked like before, but the subtraction of years from your appearance is a welcome sight for anyone, right?
