A nurse sure made my day
« on: August 18, 2012, 02:11:10 AM »
Well I've been home from the hospital since Thursday evening.... same day surgery  :/O  Get you eating and some liquids down you and out the door you go......

Anyway, while being rolled by a surgical nurse to the OR, she commented that she loved my shaved head  :@`

It made my day.. but I was soon asleep after they got me into OR.... woke up in recovery and missed all the fun  :*))

Oh that sucker hurts now.

On a serious note... the doctor said I need to pay attention to strict advise on what I can and can not do from here on out.... this is the 2nd hernia in the same place at the navel, he said if you blow this one out, we may not be able to fix it.  O:O  Okay so I can't lift anything over a gallon of milk weight for 10 weeks, then after that no strenuous activity, strenuous lifting, getting hit at the navel etc etc etc.

BTW this makes #11 hernia... gonna get a T-Shirt made that says... "11 Hernia Repairs and Counting"

Best wishes for a "quick" recovery - which, apparently, is about 10 weeks in your case.

Here's to a quick recovery!
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

Good luck on recovery !  I had groin hernia / hospitalized when I was 10 years old.   Well, I had  hair (very short crewcut) back  then and nurses tried complimenting my haircut as this was my first hospital stay and I was terribly homesick !

11 hernias, my god man, what are you doing to yourself.?

It all started back in 1993 while in Cumberland, Maryland.... by lifting 2 tire casings for the 18 wheeler 11R22.5,295/75R22.5.. about 175 lbs ea that the company insisted I bring home on my flatbed deck.

They were all kind of stoked up on Same Day Surgery... as promised I told them I would bring some signed footballs (little rubber ones) that were signed by Lex Hilliard who played for the Montana Grizzly Football Team #38, then was drafted by Miami Dolphins #26 and now is playing for Minnesota Vikings #38  Lex is my nephew by a marriage my father in law had.

So we are pretty proud of him.

Here is Lex carrying the ball in a game just 6 days ago with the SF 49ers

That'll do it. Too bad there were no fork lifts available.
