Apple iPods
« on: May 21, 2007, 09:26:11 AM »
Dudes (and dudettes),
Been using an iPod 6.0 for a while and love it. Going to stop on the way home and get a second one for my wife but just thought of something.....can you use your iTunes program on one computer to store the libraries of two different iPod units? I'm not certain she's going to want to download all the stuff I listen to and vice-versa.

Any insight would be appreciated.

itunes suck...i'm not happy with this piece of software at all...it has so many limitations where there should be none...

i dont think you can have two different libraries on one computer...plus itunes only wants to be tied to one ipod....i could be wrong though.

i love my ipod though dont know what i'd do without it..on #3 now....4th gen 20gig(broken HD)....5th gen 30gig(wont charge)....and now went to a 4gig nano.......but if they dont start making itunes more user friendly i'm going to a clone if/when i break my nano .

I'm no expert on anything to do with the computer, erm...as previous posts may give away *looks at floor* but I don't think that should be a problem Schro..It's true, you do only have one library, but it's all something to do with 'checking the boxes' and what playlists you want to add...besides, don't the ipods have different names etc..?

I for one am a great lover of the i-pod, after borrowing my daughters, neat little invention that you can take anywhere.
I'd be really pleased Schro if I were your missus and you brought one home for me!  :@`

You should've bought a Creative Zen instead. They're a lot better than the iPod.

Schro, the answer to your question is YES, as long as you each have your own profiles (logins) setup in Windows.  With Windows setup this way, when you login to iTunes you will have different libraries and can choose which music is designated for that specific profile.  If this doesn't make sense, call me.

Creative Zen all the way baby!   O0
Got the 8Gb Zen Micro Photo, excellent piece of kit.  Plus it means I don't have to use iTunes.

I just got a Sandisk Sansa and love it -- very simple to use with Windows Media Player.  I haven't tried downloading songs (just loaded my CD's), but I know I have several different options vs. being stuck with iTunes as the only option... didn't like that idea.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

I second that.  I have a 30 Gig Zen Vision M and I love it.  I don't use the software that came with it.  I use Windows Media Player.  I would suggest that you go with Creative and not Apple.

Going against the grain here...but I am very satisfied with my iPod. O0 Can't live without it! )& More than enough room to hold all my family's music.  We bombard iTunes with all our music and turned off the automatic sync so we can manually pick what we want on our iPods.

so far, I've been happy with mine also. I've tried the Windows Media Player for my kids' Sandisk players and didn't like either the WM Player program or the mp3 units.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Yeah, I have 3 Ipods...don't think I'm switching anytime soon.

Though, now I have a gig of music on my BlackBerry which is handy also.

there's an idea for ya schro.....load all of your wifes music on your itunes...create a playlist with her name with all her tunes... turn off autosync and then manually load the playlist to her ipod.......but a different login would prob be easier.

I have that as well. 1GB version. It was dirt cheap at Costco and runs on AAAs. That was a huge selling point for me. I can take it away for the weekend by just packing a few extra AAA cells.
