ATG really makes a big difference...I remember the first time I used a Fusion ATG, I just couldn't believe it...slicker than a pigs snout.

I have been ATG from the get go, I can't stand not being completely slick after a shave!
Same for me. ATG all the way! WTG just ends up feeling like a half-ass shave to me.

I agree with those that say that ATG is better. It's been 24 hours since I've shaved it, and the back of my head is still smooth:D
EDIT: just shaved and it kind of ...burns
...seems like I still need to get the hang of it. rinsed with ice cold water, and used a revitalising aftershave..... I guess I will first shave it WTG, then ATG, till my scalp gets used to it

You don't feel bald until you have tried shaving against the grain Paul. Don't worry, your scalp will toughen up in due time.

Paul, if you have relatively thick, course hair, go WTG first and then ATG. If you hair is on the thinner side (like mine) go ATG straight.

WTG vs ATG is no game at all
I have shaved ATG from almost day one and never ever shaved WTG again. The difference is huuuuge

ATG for me. Also helps if you pull/stretch the skin as you go along, not the easiest thing to do.

Yes...I agree, ATG is the only way to go and I, like many, did not start out doing it but after only a few weeks I discovered it did not irritate me and the smooth feeling was so satisfying, No one has mentioned the distinct difference of the SOUNDS that resonate through the "Head Bones" when one WTG vs ATG. I experience different levels from lower to higher...how about you Sly Guys?

I go against the grain and then finish off by going diagonally across the grain (for example: right front to left rear on the top of my head). It's unorthodox, but it assures virtually no missed spots and a very smooth dome.

I do something very similar to that myself.

ATG since day one here also. Being BBC I would have tons of stubble left if I went with the grain. ATG really gives me the smooth finish I want. Keep it up and good luck.

ATG from the start also.
I every time I step into the shower after a shave, I find myself mentally singing,
"They call him Flipper, Flipper faster than lightning"
Only way to go for that Flipper-head!!
Hmmm.....can I change my forum nic to that!?!?

Guess I have too much hair. I find it uncomfortable to shave ATG FIRST. I always go over my head WITH the grain first. But then always go over again AGAINST the grain.
There's LOTS of hair shavings in the sink each morning after the FIRST pass. Second pass, not so much. But ATG FIRST is really uncomfortable unless the blades are SUPER sharp.
