6 month commit. Got my first professional trim this weekend, at about 3 months.
I'm actually liking the longer mustache, and I plan on letting that grow out (if it will). I think I might actually be pretty close to terminal length, but I'm not sure as I've never let it get this long before.I'm going to try letting the beard go a few more months, but I think this might actually be just about right for me. My beard is patchy on the cheeks and sideburns, so when I try to go longer everything just looks wispy and I get flyaways everywhere. Tried Beard Wax, blow dryer, softening, and a few other things. Just can't tame it when it gets too long because it's so patchy in those areas.
